Strangely, this was one of the very first DVDs I bought - on the Troma label back in March '99. It's always been a favourite, and this release looks great. As for the Maniac II footage - I first saw that on the Elite Entertainment Maniac LD that I received for my 18th birthday in 1997!

It doesn't mention if it contains the theatrical 'Combat Shock' Troma cut (I'm guessing not).

As most people know, ordering this was a nightmare. The Severin site crashed (probably due to the 50% sale). My order went though (got the Paypal receipt), but no email confirmation from Severin themselves. Looks like an email to their customer service dept is in order...

I didn't get an email confirmation either, but its in my order history, so I'm not worried.

I've ordered in the past with no confirmation email, and never had a problem.

I'm really happy that Combat Shock is receiving this much exposure from this one time deal.

I can see it being sold out in a few days.

Just saw an e-mail message from Severin that claims that 1/2 of their Combat Shock stock has been sold. Wow.

There will be a standard release in the future, right?

Severin has been pretty adamant that there won't be a standard release.

They’ve been extremely and ridiculously adamant about it.

That being said, if they did do a standard, that’d piss off 2,000 people who bought this under the adamancy of Severin that there would not be a trimmed down edition.

I don’t think Severin has ever done this but for example, Synapse one kinda figured based upon past history that not at this time means yes. But Severin is unknown and I’m willing to take the bet this will be it. Buy it while ya can.

Synapse usually word there's right to avoid complaints. They always say a standard release is not planned at this time. Severin are straight up saying we are not allowed to release this as a single edition cause of our contract. If somehow that turns out to be bullshit I'd be pissed.

I think that they say "for contractual reasons" means it's a given that we're not getting this one in a different edition from them.

Just put my order in for this and e-mailed them to combine with my previous order to save on the shipping. I thought this would be around for awhile but it looks to selling very quickly and would hate to miss out. Better safe than sorry

I REALLY want this but not for $50. It's hard to accept I'll never own EVERY movie ever made on blu-ray, but this is one of them. Oh well.

It really is way too much money, but it looks like something I'll really enjoy. I don't mind the occasional splurge.

As someone who has seen the film a few times before, this edition is totally worth the $50 for such a brilliant slice of low budget filmmaking.

The commentary track on the original Troma DVD was great.

I vaguely remember Jörg Buttgereit saying that the scene where Frankie drinks the sour milk is one of the most nauseating images in low-budget filmmaking.

Looking forward to listening to this new commentary track - 20 years after the last one!

I think this is gouging the fans, I just want the film, I'll just put the book and all the other junk in a storage box, I'm so annoyed by this.

$40 is pretty much the standard SRP for most standard, first-run releases, from major studios to smaller ones like Criterion, etc. You are used to discounted prices which major retailers like Amazon and B&N can afford to give, but not small companies like Severin. If you want discounted price, wait for Amazon to discount it 50% off some day. But oh you can't because it's selling out as we speak.

Is there any free shipping available in this sale? Normally the don't give free shipping in sales, but I see some people claim they got it.

If so, what are thresholds, and is that before or after the coupon code is added?

(I am just wondering whether it would be cheaper for me to change the address to my American shipping agent instead of paying $50 for having it send directly).
