But why did "the truth" need to be mentioned at all, that's what I'm getting at, unless we're playing World Cup Cliché Bingo? I've mentioned those dirty cheating foreign bastards (ding!), you've mentioned those thuggish English brutes who hide behind the flag of St. George (ding!), tob's mentioned how the English always go overboard in their expectations (ding!), we've all mentioned the cameramen focusing on the ladies (ding!), a few more like that and someone's gonna have a clean sweep. Special no-prize can be the England 6-1 Panama poster that came in the middle of today's Daily Mail

Who buys the Daily Mail?
Do you want me to apologise for hurting you and Steedeels feelings?
The last time I checked,it is fine to mention things in threads relating to issues around a certain subject.
If some get a little burt hurt then maybe they just need thicker skin.

If the shoe had been on the other foot,I’d have agreed with the poster and say something along the lines of “its nothing to do with me what idiots follow our country” instead of accusing someone of hatred, not knowing anything about the game and so forth.

Sure, he could've said that, but you seemed so awfully keen to infer that our support is either a bunch of pu$$ies or thugs (I wish people would make up their minds) that it's no wonder you hooked a live one. Bravo.

My feelings are fine, you can chirp about us as you like, I'd just prefer that it wasn't in this thread. Alas, I don't think there's a "What don't you like about the English?" thread so I guess it'll have to stay in here.

PS

I've got that poster right here, ready and waiting to be shipped out to the lucky winner!

You said you wanted to get back to the football but have since continued on with your views so I thought maybe it had got to you too.

Just because someone doesn’t take well what ya say, doesn’t mean you were fishing for a negative response.
Some simply got a bit bent out of shape when it was stated that the English are blowing their wins outta proportion.

Good luck to that winner.....have ya nothing better to do with 80p?(or whatever it costs)

I felt so bad when he missed that final shot. He broke down crying on the pitch immediately after the final whistle too I was really hoping Iran could do it and they came so close. Could easily have gotten a point against Spain and Morocco should've gotten point(s) out of their game against Portugal.

Predictable outcome to the group but I think many vastly underestimated both Morocco and Iran. Both of them have done much better than the other teams that are now out of the tournament IMO.

Well, as glad as I am that Portugal got through, the fact that the penalty for Iran was even considered the way it was, just shows the idiocy of VAR by its handlers. This world cup has been very entertaining so far and much respect to the teams & players that haven't resorted to the BS play acting tactics that we have seen so far.

Australia got a penalty against us that was very similar to the one Iran got yesterday.

The other day I was watching Japan - Senegal and none of the teams resorted to that sort of BS. I loved it! Same with Iceland - Nigeria and Australia - Denmark.. Some teams are just infested with it though *cough* Neymar & Pepe *cough*..

Will we see a complete Argentinian meltdown tonight? Will we see another Icelandic miracle? My money is on Nigeria going trough with Croatia.

The more it annoys Lineker and Shearer, the more I like it. I hope the PORvIRAN ref gets both semis and the final.

The level of commentary is dreadful at times. They are just trying to pre-empt the next morning's tabloid headlines. Headlines that Shearer would be capable of reading and comprehending, of course. Just keep saying "Farcical" "Shocking" and "Disgraceful" over and over again, Alan. You know. The words that will be in bold type.

They seem to think that VAR is supposed to ensure that decisions that everyone agrees 100% with will be made. But that's impossible. Just because it's been VARd doesn't mean the refs will agree with the guys in the TV studio who presume to talk for everyone.

It's ironic that many folk objected to video refs because contentious decisions were all part of the game and would sanitise it by robbing the fans of potential talking points.

I buy the Mail for the crossword...honest! People saying the English are going overboard is fine, I said my piece about that (I got three likes, count 'em!), but the last few pages of this thread haven't been about that at all, have they?

Anyhoo, I loved that Twitter pic of the Portuguese lads on the plane, someone's got their hand on Pepe's shoulder and I'm surprised he's not rolling on the floor in agony

I've never particularly liked either of these two as pundits to be honest. Shearer isn't exactly the most entertaining person to listen to (only my opinion of course), and how Lineker has managed to get a job with BT Sport when he's already at the BBC, I'm not quite sure.

I don’t see any likes but then again,I’m not counting unless this is some sort of popularity contest I was unaware of.
Those things must be really important to ya,huh?

Steedeel said he wasn’t bothering with me again and then made another comment and you then said you wanted to discuss football then continued on with little issues that had hurt your bottom and still you are at it while complaining about the threads last few pages.....ironic mean anything to ya?

That Moroccan win was for the fans and they can go home with their heads held high. Very unlucky overall.

Like you say, that miss will haunt the Iranians but they put up a good show.

As a SAFC fan it’s the law to hate Shearer so I agree.

I don't hate him. But I've yet to see anything that anyone could possibly like about him. Unless they like feeling better about themselves, which Shearer could quite easily facilitate in most people's cases.

I hate him but there is no denying he was one of the finest strikers of his time. I prefer Gary Neville as a pundit but he is on Sky TV.

Gary Neville is one of my favourite pundits, and I can see why ITV were keen to hire him for this World Cup. I do like Frank Lampard as well over at the BBC.

That's not "common sense" (© tob), that's someone with an axe to grind and boy, is it ever being ground. It'll be worn down to a blunt nub if England were to actually do well, whereupon there would be yet more digs about fans, about how poor the opposition were, etc etc. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I tell you what, chaps: as predictable as the wider English response has been to the start of this campaign, the pushback has been just as predictable. Carry on!
I never said anything about England fans being Hooligans i was talking about the mentally of England. But that was not me but i can see what you are doing but at least steedeel and the others know i didn't post anything or brought anything up about England and hooligans.
I know the type of small person you are you keep the fire going on here to get a reaction sad person but i hope the others can see that in your posts.
