The Vudu UHD version is now available.
Watched about 15 minutes of a major fight scene. It's sharp and clear, although from a 2K master. Reminds me of how San Andreas looks. Much of this movie reminds me of San Andreas and I feel like it can't be a coincidence. Nevertheless - Some disappointing results. It's another film where the grading brightness and colors seems to miraculously change from shot to shot. It's like shots are graded independently with no regard for what an immediately preceding or following shot looks like. One shot looks like its during a bright sunny day then the following shot within the same scene looks like its a cloudy day or at dusk LOL. One light source may be a bright blinding yellow then cut to a different angle and it's a dull one. I've seen this issue crop up more and more frequently (or maybe because I'm just watching more HDR content), but it looks bad. It got me wondering whether or not bits and pieces of movies these days are outsourced to different units for grading/editing which would explain no real frame of reference and lack of consistency. |
