Wow!

A worthy metric, no doubt, to determine popularity of a forum thread. Could be even worthier, if the contributors were awarded something for their input. But alas, we do it out of a sense of volunteerism these days. I notice you’re creeping up on Heat, who you should surpass eventually, if only by default - https://forum.blu-ray.com/misc.php?d...osted&t=276605 .

Heat, if you’re lurking about, fret not, for even the most infamous of bans eventually expire with time and if you win back Warner Bros., you could be on another roll with HDR10+ when you’re resurrected here.

A side benefit to keeping a rolling record of the viewership for this thread is that it causes heartburn, stomach cramps, diarrhea, etc. in the haters. Next monthly accounting update is in 5 days. June should be another relatively slow month due to summer holiday and such. These monthly accounting updates require higher math than this here – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...d#post15215774

so everyone, excuse if I don’t post the June monthly stat until July 1st or so.

Not to worry, I’m always cognizant of your situation for these HDR-type events north of you, ergo (I haven’t viewed it yet, but it has a decent panel) -

Pretty cool. Communication is number one, good communication.
Number two is integrity and honesty.
Number three is barrier's elimination.
Number four happiness expansion.
Number five good HDR implémentation*

* Notice implémentation is in French.

Thanks for the explanation, there's me wondering what implémentation means in English. He said, sarcastically.

Haha. Those are pretty good. Although, I'd still rather watch the history of the doily.

I remember we had an owner who died prematurely of a rather incurable type of cancer and all of us were quite upset about it for weeks. To this day, whenever I go scuba diving I think of our passed Qualian.

And I actually shared meals and good conversation with a couple owners and their wives/friends on both the east and west coasts back then....so strong was the fellowship.
Way cool. I too was in a thread like that, to a smaller extant, way back when. To this day I still stay in contact with a mate in Australia. We facetime and watch our kids grow up. Crazy.

HDR is such a mess.

It is so difficult to get clear information. I will also be honest that when I am watching a movie it seems very difficult to notice if it is even on.

Games on the other hand seem to relish HDR and improve.

I am very surprised there is no test image or something to put on screen to confirm HDR is working or looking as it should.

Shame.

Well, the inverse does exist.

UHD blu rays have a notification at the start of a disc telling you to use an HDR TV if HDR is NOT working like it should.

True, although Disney DV discs flash it up even if you're watching in HDR10 and not Dolby Vision, which is a bit much.

Maybe if you have a DV capable TV, they don't do that on HDR10 only TVs.

Which I think is kind of cool IMO.

That's my point, Last Jedi and Black Panther both did that on my TV when it was HDR10 only, not yet DV capable. They also do that when I force HDR10 on the OPPO (now that my TV is DV capable).

My panel (LG C7) shows an HDR symbol when it's enabled and it gets very bright before disappearing to show you it's working. I figured this was a standard feature on HDR sets. Is it not?

#1: sim <- ask member clevice(https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...1#post15200521
for translation, if needed

I think we excel at communicative precision in this thread, e.g.

#2 - #4: I’d answer that honestly and comprehensively, but some might find it be too political and get bent out of shape. All we can hope for in the future are better TVs (ask my friend PaulGo )

#5* see my next post, in the meantime, folks should always keep in mind that the more complex something is because of its capability to do/provide much more (DoVi as compared to HDR10+) the more difficult it can be to implement at the end user (device) level.
