Are the Russian subtitles parts on Ghost Protocol still yellow colored?
Oh and just basing on downscaled 1080p SDR screenshots, there's are lot more grain on Ghost Protocol. In my opinion the regular Blu-ray lacked the film grain layer a bit. |

All of the SUP subtitle files that I've seen on 4k discs are at 1080p. Granted, the only ones I've extracted are Black Panther and Deadpool.

I had no problems walking into BB tuesday and snagging 4 & 5 (with nice looking slips FWIW) as expected. Pity though I couldn't also be walking out with 1 & 3 as well, grrrr (puzzling sales approach for a catalog series

I'm in that weird mind set where I keep talking myself down from buying the physicals because I already have them on my iTunes and they just upgraded them to 4K DV...my current internet situation though is slow as hell so it's been bloody hard to keep myself from pulling the trigger on the UK box set.

MI5 - Rouge Nation - Disc Review
Found MI5 at my local BB yesterday. Only 1 left. They price matched Amazon at 19.96. My evening got much busier than expected, so I was only able to sample parts. I always thought the Bluray looked good, but could use a little resolution boost. Well, this disc accomplishes that. Everything looks so much more refined and tighter across the board. The sense of 3 dimensionality really opens up in many scenes. The scene with Benji walking down the body scan hall - before he looked worried, etc. as they raced against time - now, you can really see clearly that he is sweating quit badly. There were a few soft scenes on the bluray - those are helped here, but just as with the bluray, those still stand out since many/most other scenes are quite crisp and clear. In every case, everything that was good about the bluray, is just better on the 4k. One area that surprised me was the HDR. Most 4K's tend to have muted colors when compared to their blurays (which reveals more detail and isn't overblown). I wondered where MI5 would fall since it has many location types. On this disc, HDR really helps take the 4k to the next level on some shots compared to the bluray. One of the most revealing shots - Ethan in the water vault. This scene was always an audio fave. The scene looked great on bluray - but the 4K, wow! There are orange lights throughout the vault that I had never really noticed. On 4k, they really pop with an amber vividness that is totally missing on the bluray. The Red glow of the security card pods feel a tad deeper and much more distinct in the water. It all just makes a great movie scene greater. HDR really helps separate and reveal lighting much better. The lights in the subway really standout, yet don't bleed out. When the chandelier dims at the opera, you can see all the individual lights fading out. Colors feel brighter, yet more refined. The only area that surprised me was the crazy vividness of the motorcycle chase. The scene is vivid and bright on the bluray, but here, it was incredibly bright - skin tones looked extremely warm (the whole scene is sun drenched in hot amber light, so this is not a surprise), but I was a little surprised how "hot" it could look, yet still retain the tight, crisp resolution. Overall, this is a nice presentation with some great upgrades in PQ resolution and moments that really shine (pun intended). Recommended ![]() |
