Hagar- I looked up your sub. Really nice! 20hz in a nice compact sub. So, did you get it through Aperion (since it's discontinued) or did you go elsewhere? May I ask how much you paid for it? I'm curious if there are deals to be found on this sub since it's no longer manufactured according the link.
Yeah I got it from Aperion for $350 and free shipping. They get exchanges on the older models here and there and I luckced out on them getting one in on an exchange. They also might have an S10 also which could be had for around $250 I believe.

These subs use 1" thick HDF for their boxes and use 9 coats of lacquer for their finish. Here is an example of the quality of the finish.

That is the S8 which I still have. How do you like your new sub?

Anyway, I am interested in following subwoofer brands; Martin Logan, Def Tech, SVS, and Polk Audio (only the DSW series). My max pricing is going to be $600. I'll let you guys know what I decide to get.
I was looking at the SVS subs myself before I got a deal on the S12 I got from Aperion. I hear the 12" model which is in your price range is very good.

I own an HSU STF-2. I really have nothing bad to say about it. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it is very affordable and will absolutely destroy any HTIB sub out there.

It is extremely well made, and nice to look at as well:

I really wish that I had more to compare it to so that I could give a proper review! This is my first sub that is not a HTIB sub, but I am amazed by how it outperforms what I have previously owned. A friend of mine has a Velodyne that cost about the same as the STF-2. While the Velo is also quite a bit better than a HTIB sub, its just not as good as my HSU. The Velo hits hard and goes deep, but it seems to struggle with fast, sequential bass notes which is something the HSU handles with no trouble at all.

I also think that this thread is a great idea. Especially for people that don't want to have to wait 30-45 days on their sub (I waited 45 days exactly).

I've got two Bravus 10D Dual 10" powered subs from Aperion, just awesome. Albeit pricey, but dual 10" drivers, 300 watt BASH amp, customizable parametric EQ, digital display, piano black... hard to find all that stuffed in 15"H x 13.5" W x 13.5" D

i purchased the polk audio psw1000, which i like very much. Im really pissed though that it is now available for half the price that i paid for it. Anyway, i love the sub especially the way it looks (asthetics are extremely important to me, i love that they match the look of my lsi15's) but it just doesnt go low enough. I would love to modify the sub some how to make it reach 20hz, would conecting a seperate amp help. I know the sub uses a class d amp which from what i understand does not have the umph of other amps, this is why i think using an external amp would help. Any ideas?

I just received my 2 MFW-15s from AV123 and I'm more than please. I originally purchased 2 for $549 ea, plus $160 shipping via yellow freight. Yeah, shipping weight on these were about 260 lbs total. One arrived with light scratches on the bottom, so I got them to knock it down to B-stock pricing......$359.

These bad boys rock and offer the best bang for your buck. Plus, they look better than any sub close to it's price point.

Mike.

Cool another Aperion owner.

I was quite suprised with the 8D my co-worker purchased I can only imagine how good the 10D sounds.

They are just out of my price range but they look and sound awesome. I am really liking my S12 thus far and your right the Bravus line is quite a bit smaller which is probably why Aperion went in that direction. Something smaller is easier get the old WAF.

Congrats on the 10D's maybe I will see you around on the AVS Aperion Forum.

Not a day goes by that I don't appreciate the SVS Cylinder sub I purchased almost a year ago. Everyone who sees my family room for the first time comments on the immensity of the thing. And when you watch a BR movie... whoa.... your seat shakes and you feel every drop of low frequency in your chest. It's mind blowing!

It's absolute bliss!

Default Anyone else using a B&W sub?

I know B&W aren't really known for their subs. I could see why when I had my ASW800 that I bought to pair with my Nautilus speakers. When I upgraded to the 802D, the match really was not working for me and I debated what to do. I finally decided to give B&W another try with the updated version of the ASW800--the ASW825. With the upgrade, I went from a paper cone to what B&W calls a Rohacell cone, as well as new electronics, all of which are a better match for my front three speakers. The deep bass was tighter and I could hear detail and "feel" detail and punch better than before. I'm really impressed with these Rohacell cones. Anyone else enjoying them?

It's about time! The ED infomercial was getting to be freakin' old!

Wow, that's nice looking. I need to update my pics with my sub, but unfortunately it looks like we may have misplaced our camera.

Anyway, I really like my sub. I haven't given it a thorough thrashing, but we watched "Serenity" last night, and it's got some pretty decent bass in some spots. It seemed to really blend in well and brought a smile to my face more than once. Overall I'm happy with it. It's got a nice piano finish on the top as well. If I would've known about the Aperion deal though I might've sprung for one.
