Scream Factory Blu-ray Discussion Thread

ugh...I mean I'll buy this because it's one of my favorites but I already have it with pretty good features and even have the rare slipcover for it. This won't offer much to me. I can't imagine the special features would offer much more than new commentaries or an interview.

I kinda feel like they really need to announce a never on blu-ray title soon(yes House on Haunted not in US but you could get it elsewhere) or it's going to seem like cash grabs only. Where is Critters? Where is Deadly Friend?

No interest in picking up Trick r Treat from Scream as the old Blu-ray is good enough for me.

Hoping for some better stuff yet for October, although I am excited that the House on Haunted Hill remake is coming to Blu-ray!

Seems Plausible. Both it and Jason X would make sense as CE's. I could also just see them announcing a bunch of special features for some of the announced releases on that day though too.

Well, I really like that film. But, again, I already have a perfectly good blu ray of it (I watched it just last Halloween, in fact).

Well, I'm still waiting, LOL, to get excited about some new announcements.

Anyone who doesn't already have this film should get this, though, it really is a lot of fun.

Trick R Treat seemed almost too obvious. It's a decent seasonal film. I can't say I don't like it. But again, I seriously hope this isn't one of their "jaw-dropping" titles. Does it fit the Scream Factory brand? It sure does. Like TripleHBK said, Trick Or Treat would've been "jaw-dropping," at least in terms of a label finally acquiring the title. I'm just not as excited for this as I wish I was.

They already confirmed on Facebook that it won't have a new transfer, but it doesn't really need one, the original disc looked pretty good even with it being a VC-1 encode. I'm sure this disc is gonna have a MPEG-4 encode, so it's at least gonna have some picture improvement because of that. The big selling point of this release is gonna be the amount extras. And since they're not spending money on a new transfer, they could make a lot of extras for this.

Can't see a Chucky set anytime soon, since we've already gotten two in a short period of time, and since Universal is separately releasing two and three. Never say never, though. But the big boxset for this year is Critters.

And I hope it is indeed something elusive, long unavailable, new to blu ray, things like that.

I know some people have been saying to each their own and so on, and saying the things I previously mentioned wouldn't generate any excitement with them and so forth.

But I still think the collectors' / boutique market overall would benefit more from, or be more surprised by, releases of "The Devils", "The Haunting of Julia", "Martin", "Alligator", "After Hours", "Cruising" and things like that than ANOTHER release of "Fright Night" or "Elm Street" or "The Lost Boys", which all already have great blus out.

Or, Heaven forbid, more of these newer, mid-grade, mainstream, mediocre titles that just don't generate any excitement from anyone I know.


But, yeah, to each their own.

Fright Night would be perfect for those who owned Twilight's BD or on DVD while for those who own the import BD can look forward to Fright Night 2 on BD which i'm betting FN 1 and 2 are the next announcements this or next week or at SDCC.

Devils i can see Criterion do! Alligator CE would be nice with Haunting of Julia.

This will probably be under $15 bucks on release day like most of their other post-2000s Collector's Editions have been. I'd just go for this version, honestly.

If this ends up being carried at Best Buy for $15 I'd probably grab it. There's to much other stuff I want to double dip on this, but if I can find a copy in person at that price I'd likely grab it.

You need to quit pimping Fright Night, bro; it had 2 releases from TT and currently enjoys a superb, region-free release from Eureka. Nobody needs it AGAIN, even those who greedily snatch up everything Scream slaps their name on like a certain poster I'll leave nameless.

If past is precedent, that's kind of a non-issue for Universal. Sometimes a Shout! Factory release follows fairly close behind a Universal release (HII, Darkman, People Under the Stairs, The 'Burbs) and sometimes Universal issues a release on their own with Shout! Factory releases already available and in-print (HIII, Psycho II - IV, Darkman Trilogy).

That being said, Arrow seem to be the company with active US ties to the Universal catalog, based on their announcement of The Day of the Jackal. They may have been the licensor for The Addiction, as well, as October Films is a Universal subsidiary.
