Watched the mountain climbing scene and final 20 minutes of M:I-II last night. It looked great. Way better than the outdated Blu-ray.

YES!!! That's music to my ears. I can't wait for MI:2 and The Innocence Mission Thursday.

First five and last twenty minutes? Damn, wish i'd thought of doing it that way.

Last night I watched Rogue Nation and must admit that I liked it even more than I originally liked it. Having watched Ghost Protocol and then Rogue Nation so close together I can appreciate how much closer RN is to a MI spy caper versus GP. The humor in GP was great, but I think it was a bit more than it should have been for a Mission Impossible movie; I attribute that to Brad Bird's style more than anything. I really liked them both, but I think Rogue Nation just felt like a better movie and knocked Ghost Protocol down a notch in my MI film preference.

The rest of the movie sucks. If I wasn't such a completist, there's no way I'd own that one. It's easily the worst of the series.

We're on the same page . It was in the boxset - that's the only reason i've allowed it to enter my home.

I had so much fun with 2. Yes it’s silly and laughable but it’s just a ton of fun for me and brings me back to when I saw it in theatres. But if I saw it for the first time now I probably would have shut it off. That last fight scene is amazing though.

It's the ol' trojan horse. "You want the lovely Mission Impossible, MI3, Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation?" Here you go. Enjoy!"

My biggest problem with the second film (besides all the slow-mo "dramatic" scenes) was that Ethan Hunt's fighting style completely changes for just that one film (elaborate Asian flip-kicks instead of traditional Western fighting style). Then he's back to fighting "normal" again in the rest of the series. I get they were going for a complete "Woo" style in the first squeal, but it makes it stand out like a sore thumb with the rest of the series.

That's exactly it. How you feel about these 'bad' films comes down how you first came to experience them. I'm very fond of a lot of absolute shite that I saw in my youth and don't apologise for it - nostalgia is a helluva drug. Stallone's Judge Dredd - I love that f***ing movie. Why? I can give you no logical explanation. It's terrible.

I never saw MI2 when it first came out (probably DVD years later) so the whole thing is just nails on a chalkboard for me. Even the John Woo-ness of it bothers me because it's soooo tame compared to his other Hollywood output (which I love) like Hard Target, Face/Off and even Broken Arrow. It's even tamer than the first Mission Impossible which has cool things like a rather spectacular elevator shaft face impalement and
[Show spoiler]John Voight being unceremoniously crushed/dragged/exploded by a speeding helicopter.
. You take the blood out of a John Woo film and all you have left is interpretive dance moves amongst pigeons masquerading as combat.

Yep, sometimes you crave Taco Bell, you know it will give you the trots but it’s tasty. I saw JD in theatres and loved it too. Love the cast.
