Default Halloween II & III Steelbooks - NEW 4K TRANSFERS

Quote:
MICHAEL MYERS & SILVER SHAMROCK STEELBOOKS!

Calling all fans of HALLOWEEN II (1981) and HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH! You’re in for a special treat this Halloween season as both films are being reissued from us in limited-edition Steelbook® packaging! Read on for more details:

- Official Release Date for is October 9th (and just ahead of the new Halloween film that stalks into theaters Oct 19th).

- Only 10,000 of each steelbook are being produced.

- Steelbooks will be shrinkwrapped. The Blu-rays included inside will have the same content (but with different disc label art) that is currently available in their respective Collector Edition releases but with one big exception: We are doing a NEW 4K scan film transfer on both!

- The artwork you see pictured on both come to us from by artist Nathanael Marsh (who also illustrated our prior John Carpenter-themed steelbooks). If you order directly from our site, your packaging will also include a 28.5” x 16.5” rolled lithograph of the illustrations. The litho will not be available elsewhere and only 1,000 of them each are being made.

Pre-order links on our site:

Sorry, I don't really visit the steelbook sub-forum and completely forgot it existed, but I guess this is a bigger deal than usual since they're new discs with new transfers.

I wonder if Scream Factory will release the new discs in standard packaging, like they did with Fargo. If so I'll probably swap out the discs in my complete collection with those.

New 4K scan transfer... will they likely be released on 4K UHD later?

No new extras. They might also have subtitles for those that want/need them, since the old discs are from back when Shout! discs didn't have them.

Universal might release them to UHD down the line unless Shout! starts releasing discs in that format.

Shame that isn't the '78 original with the classic poster art in steel form.

Both pre-ordered!!!

The only thing that can make this more excellent is if Lionsgate/Anchor Bay announce a 40th anniversary edition of the original.

Hopefully they go back to the original negatives. SF's 4K IP scans have been pretty lacklustre.

Kind of a waste scanning IPs in 4K then scaling them down to 1080p. Even a 2K scan of the negative would look much better in 1080p if done right.

Argh...haha. I already own the stand-alone Scream Factory discs and the Scream Factory box set.

I'm all in for the 4K transfers, though. I love the first three movies.

Do you feel original negatives are better than IPs?

Yes those would be nice and why they didn't do for They Live and Prince of Darkness is a mystery.

I believe the previous transfers were from the OCNs, but I'm not 100% sure. I know H2's transfer was sprinkled with white specks, but I don't recall any black ones. I've heard dirt shows up as white on negatives and black on prints/IPs, but I'm no expert. These were also released by a major studio (Universal). Wouldn't that also help the odds of the OCN being available?

New transfers' not enough to make me double dip. If they had included some juicy new extras, maybe, but I'm pretty fine with the ones included in my Halloween set.

This is making me want to hold back from buying any older Scream Factory CE's- except it doesn't really matter now since there's only like four I'm missing.

Placed my pre-order for Halloween II, because that artwork is amazing and I need that litho. I will get HIII, but I will wait to pick that one up in store when it’s a bit cheaper.

Well they are the original element which IPs are then derived from. There's loss of detail between every step from OCN>release prints.

I'm interested in part 3, but I hate steelbooks.
Hopefully they get pressed in standard cases too.
