Literally the first scene of the film and the last scene of the film, I think they're allowed for the tone to shift in two hours.

Which is a flash forward to a scene that actually occurs in the third act of the movie...

Indeed but story wise it takes place much closer to the 'cheesy happy ending'. The two scenes are quite close together in terms of the story line.

That's the point, to tease you with it right at the start (and it's a KILLER way to start a movie) then to return to it and ultimately resolve it later on. Again: movies are allowed to do this sort of thing.

Pretty much, it doesn't destroy the film but I just rewatched it recently and found it funny.

Great performances by PSH & Cruise.

And yet that isn't actually MM's character being threatened at gunpoint there...

Yeah, that totally would've broken the ending.

You know what puts that final shot over the top into Cheeseville? When Ving Rhames shoots the v-signs in the background, I distinctly remember my mate shouting "what the ****?!?" in the cinema

As for the actual topic at hand, I ordered Jack Reacher from zoom as part of their BOGOF deal on Cruise titles, even though I've just sold the UHD of Never Go Back (meh movie, even meh'er disc) I thought I'd throw it in there anyway seeing as it's free, can always sell it on later.

Paramount doesn't like wasting redundant cardboard.

I can't believe we're still going so in depth on the MI movies in the Jack Reacher thread but not the MI thread lol. Anyway MI 3 was always my least favourite out of the franchise. Feels too much like a tv pilot to me and I think it has the weakest action out if all of them. PSH is a great villain but like so many in the franchise he's severely underused.

I really hate that cheesy ending too. Although MI 3 did give us Aaron Paul as Ethan's brother in law.

I found Jack Reacher's UHD image quality is quite lovely. I think you'll end up keeping it.

Yeah, sounds like JR1 is fine but that weird gloopy grain in JR2 is a real turn off, that's what I was referring to having just sold and can always sell on again. I've got every other cruise UHD that was in the BOGOF deal so it was JR2 or bust as the freebie to go along with JR1!

I know, it's still visible on the BD but it's so much worse on the UHD.
