True. But I wonder will be considered "retro" from now on? Remakes and dial-ups? What are the defining traits of the 2000s and 2010s that'll be used for reference?

Well, let me in my old age be a lot more specific, then, and say I hope they are talking about 70s and 80s films. Especially titles that are new to blu ray.

Not a bunch of double dips and what-I-consider-to-be modern studio films.

I'm STILL hoping for "The Hand" (1981), "The Haunting of Julia" (1977), "Martin" (1976), "Alligator" (1980) and things like that.

Word is that the English audio track is kinda botched, it's missing a lot of the sound effects and mixed weird. After waiting this long to even see it, I can wait a little longer and see if it gets fixed either by a subsequent release or an Internet fan.

The 90s is the most underrated decade for film IMHO. A lot of great films came out of that decade. Unfortunately the horror genre suffered then though. For me anyways.

I don't know if it would fall under the Scream Collector's series, but I'd love to see Surviving The Game with Ice-T, Rutger Hauer, Gary Busey come out.

In the past, haven't they stated they were closing for the 4th of July? Looks like they didn't make that announcement this year. Hoping the rest of the announcements hit Thursday and Friday. I thought MAYBE they'd announce one today, since they didn't say they were closing. Interesting.

Scream, Silence of the Lambs, Blair Witch, Sixth Sense, Candyman, In the Mouth of Madness, Misery, Know What you Did Last Summer, Seven, Jacob's Ladder, Urban Legend, Tremors, Event Horizon, Army of Darkness, Dracula, Cube, Demon Knight. I could go on!

Anything? Come on, 90s had some real good stuff on the go.

some speculate they might announce on the 13th here on the thread. Sometimes when it's friday the 13th they give us a surprise announcement, sometimes not.

But the 90s had some gems of the horror genre like in The Mouth of Madness to others and all in between and Scream made horror popular again.

Yeah there were still some good/great ones but not many IMO. Horror died down in the 90s after an incredible run in the 70s-80s. Out of the ones you listed I Iike around half and don't really consider Silence of the lambs and Seven horror films but thrillers instead.

Well, to be honest, it didn't really die down, it got watered down. The 90's was the era of the PG-13 horror flix. And for two reasons, 1) the MPAA was in full swing to censor a lot of movies making the gore barely presentable and not worth doing in the first place & 2) The studios wanted to get more young asses in the seats and to make horror as PG-13 sort of guaranteed that.

It wasn't till the dawn of the 2000's things changed. First, the invent of the DVD could provide unrated cuts of films much easier opening up the MPAA as "not as significant" as they once were. Also face it, if it wasn't for the popularity of the "Saw" franchise in 2004, waking people up to real horror again, we may have had the 90's all over again.

Sure, I'll agree with MMB, the second golden age of Horror was the 1980's with great memorable characters and ever-growing franchises, but the 90's did the same thing too, just under a more "kid-friendly" model. But you won't get an argument outta me, the 90's sucked a lot in Horror entertainment too.....that is until you get to the 2000's...and the 10's.....well, y'know.

Troma, I believe. Best to ask Vinegar Syndrome if that's the case.
