Default Headphones Suggestions

Im looking at getting some decent headphones for use with my mp3 player. I recently listened to a pair of Bose ON-EAR Headphones and thought they were very good but I just don't like buying Bose any other suggestions? Oh budget less then £100

If the headphones you refer to are the Bose QuietComfort (noise cancelling) headphones, you might check out Audio-Technica's ATH-ANC7 noise cancelling headphones. They sound excellent and I don't ever want to get on a plane without them again.

I recommend that you do a search and you will find a plethora of information. The topic of headphones has been discussed several times.

However, I recommend that you visit the following sites for more information:

http://www.head-fi.org.

http://www.headphone.com.

My favorite headphones: B&O, Sennheiser, and Audio-Technica.

By the way, I've gone to a Head-fi.org meet here in San Jose. It was a blast and well worth the price of admission. I recommend attending a meet if they schedule one in your area.

I have the Bose on-ear headphones when listening to my iPod, but I find myself tweaking the EQ settings on my iPod to get the best sonic results.
Otherwise, I would DEFINITELY recommend either the Grado SR-60 or the iGrado. Both Grados are exactly identical spec-wise, but the iGrado looks more like your typical "on the go" headphone.
The above mentioned Grados are perhaps the most sonically accurate sounding headphone based on consistent reviews -- even better, the iGrado is only $50 and the SR-60 is $60.

It depends on how you're going to use it. Here's what I recommend:

In-Ears: Shure SCL3, Etymotic Research ER-6i,Sennheiser CX-300

On ears/Over ears: Grado SR-80, Sharper Image Quiet Place

lots of places, including amazon, grado.com, and audio advisor

be forewarned though, it's very rare for Grados to ever go on sale. So if you're waiting for a deal to ever come out you'll be wasting your time.

Maybe this should be another thread, but any advice on a headphone amp?

I have a home office and my squeezebox boom doesn't cut it.

I stopped using my CDP on my main rig ever since I went squeezebox duet + upsampler + dac.

they're currently 69.99 but i'm sure they'll drop soon
