I didn't really care for it either-- thoroughly grimy and unpleasant and with the audacity to suggest we root on these lowlifes and their carnage throughout the movie.

I liked House Of 1000 Corpses better... still gruesome of course, but the bad guys were presented as "bad guys".....

I like House of 1000 Corpses. Most horror movies don’t scare me because I don’t really believe in ghosts or monsters, but crazy people are definitely real.

Crazy people scare me too in real life but that doesn't make a movie good or bad.

Stanley Kubrick is the most wildly overrated director of all time. 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange are borefests with almost no redeeming qualities.

And The Shining is one of the worst Stephen King book adaptations ever!

The movie blows away the book. Way better, IMO.

I don't agree with that, The Shining is one of King's best.

However I've always separated the book and movie for obvious reasons.

The book is excellent, the movie is excellent....

Directors and Studios should not cater to the fans. If the fans like a movie, fine. If the fans hate a movie, for whatever reason, fine too. But if we start changing the movies we make just to keep the fans happy, then why bother having a vision for these films? We, as film makers should make the movies we want to make. Use the choices we, ourselves, made. That is why we make movies in the first place.
