They charged me for The Unborn but not Someone’s Watching Me yet! And that was ordered well before The Unborn.

Whenever I get a slipcover I feel like I'm getting something a little extra for the same price but honestly don't really care. When I used to buy a lot more in store, if I saw one on the shelf with and another without, I'd grab the one with. Now almost all my purchasing is done on amazon and it's hit or miss. Doesn't bother me at all, just happy to have the movie. If anything, they're honestly more of a pain. Need to take off the slip and open the case to get to the disc. Plus, like someone else mentioned, my collection is all alphabetical so it's a giant slip/non-slip disaster anyways.

I'm not OCD about slipcovers or anything but I did something I'm not proud of. My dog somehow got ahold of my slip for The Gate (Vestron) and tore a good piece out of one corner and left little bite marks in different spots. It drove me crazy enough to buy another copy. But at least I didn't pay $30 for it - I grabbed one on sale at Best Buy. A lot of slipcovers are just meh but those Vestron ones are really special.

I have all the SF CEs, and I have them all with slipcovers. I like the slipcovers because it's part of the package. You're paying for that. It's a part of the product you're buying, so I'm not going to throw it away. With Scream Factory, the slipcover provides a nice alternative artwork if you switch the artwork in the case to the original. It took me a while to realize that not everyone in a movie group is there because they love movies. Some just love slipcovers. Sounds strange, but it's very true. |

Holy Hell. That buys a LOT of actual movies. I'm seriously going to consider doing this. I prefer original artwork anyway and I've already tossed or given away at least 4 SF slips. Terror Train, The Fog and Squirm look SO much better with the original art in black cases.

I've debated selling my slipcovers and a bunch of steelbooks I have because I really don't care that much. Used to like steelbooks because I felt like I was getting something more for the same price (don't know if they're still released at the same price). Slipcovers I've never cared that much about. Actually have a pile of about 10 steelbooks I'm more than happy to offload but I'm just lazy. I really should though. Honestly my collection would look more uniform if I just got rid of all that stuff. Part of me likes the chaos I see when I look at my collection. When I started buying 4K I decided to stop the steelbook thing. I'm actually annoyed a couple of my 4Ks are steelbooks and would rather just have the regular version.
If someone had to guess, what are the most valuable SF slipcovers? Maybe I have some! |

That was Justin Osbourne of Slasher Design. And he still gets tons of work, so the people hiring him must not care about the plagiarism stuff at all, sadly.

If I get a CE without a slip, it feels "incomplete" to me, because I know it had one at one point. Luckily it's only happened once or twice, as I was an early adopter on Scream, and have most of the flicks I wanted. I slept on TCM 2 and am now having to consider paying way too much for a copy with a slip. Haven't bit the bullet yet, as I'm hoping I'll eventually find one in the wild.
I missed the slip on Assault on Precinct 13, which was the only Carpenter flick that I was missing a slip on. One was finally listed on eBay, and I finally dropped out of bidding on it around, I want to say $50 or so? Just for the slip! At some point I had to tell myself "It's just cardboard, it doesn't matter!" Then, when they announced the SB's, I sold all of my Carpenters with slips so I could buy the steels. Now I have the steels...and wish I had the slipcovered regular discs back. I just don't like the art on the steels that much. Should have kept what I had. Oh well. |

I noticed several months (maybe even a year or more) ago that I stopped getting EMAIL tracking numbers from Shout/Scream, BUT if I go into my account and look at the details of my order number, a tracking number shows up there whenever part of it ships. Dunno why the email alerts stopped but... |

For those curious about which ones fetched the most: The Burning ($23), Darkman ($22), TCM 2 ($31!!!), Day Of The Dead ($18), and Dolls ($17). Most of the Carpenter stuff averaged around fifteen bucks each, and I averaged $10-15 for films released over the last couple of years (Childs Play, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, etc). The Vestron slips averaged around $10-15 as well, and not a single Code Red or Vinegar Syndrome slip garnished any interest whatsoever, let alone sold (Spasms, One Dark Night, Psycho Cop Returns, The Undertaker). All in all, while I like the way they looked and will miss the artwork, I like the way my new TV looks, too. I have no issues with collectors tossing them in the trash out of spite for anal-retentitive types, but my situation shows that you're shooting yourself in the foot sometimes. |
