I really don't need this, but I know I'll be picking it up on release day. I took the 35th Anniversary blu ray and combined it in a double disc case with the original blu ray release, due to the original art. I don't usually care about slips, but this is going to look sick next to my Friday the 13th: The Complete Collection. They should have used the original artwork on the disc too.

I've just read through this entire thread and have read numerous people begging for the original mono to be included on this release. Why all the love for the original mono? What makes it so much better than Dolby Atmos? What does the original mono have that Dolby Vision doesn't?

Mmhh I don’t see the Dolby Atmos logo... hopefully it does have Atmos and they’ll update the disc artwork with it

Yes! I wish more studios would stick to using the theatrical poster art for their DVD/Blu/4K releases.

It's the original audio for the film, as heard in 1978. I'm a purist, so for me, the ultimate home video copy of a movie is one that most closely preserves the original version of the movie. For this movie, that'd be mono audio. Dolby Vision will presumably allow the colors to be closer to the original film colors then ever before on home video, which is exciting.

EDIT: Coming back to clarify that I certainly don't mind the inclusion of remixes in Atmos, as many love them, but I always watch with original audio when available.

This isn’t just a matter of people being purists. Halloween’s surround mix is, shall we say, more revisionist than is typical. New sound effects, the replacement of the original sound effects, etc. Even one of the music stings is entirely altered. So it’s not that people are averse to a surround VERSION (hell, I’d love to see this movie in surround), but the surround mixes have never been done properly, and it ruins the experience for those who are intimately familiar with how this movie has always sounded.
