Someone asked in the announcement post for these doubles if SHMII/HTD was still in the works. SF replied "sorry, not at this time".

That response means one of two things:
  1. "We're not working on it."
  2. "We ARE working on it, but we aren't ready to announce it, yet."

In other words, "Don't read too much into it."

That was me who asked them that. But we all know they'll swear they don't have something then announce it a day later. I don't know why they just can't say, "we're working on that and hope to release it later this year." That's what other labels do.

I'm down for both of those, but what about Munchie Strikes Back?

They were listening to me!

I’ll get Munchies for sure. Maybe the other one too.

I remember paying nearly $100 for the DVD set of Elm Street. I have the Blu ray set that was released a couple years back but it’s an import & the bonus disc wouldn’t play. Plus Dream Warriors looks absolutely terrible. So in a nutshell yes as a huge Freddy fan I would pony up the dough for a Scream release of the Elm Street movies, hopefully Freddy vs Jason is included.

Either they haven't worked all the deals out yet - or they want to save announcement hype for when the pre-order goes up since that would boost sales.
But the director saying they were releasing them - and that they just announced these new Corman double features - leaves me believing they will release them eventually.

Same. Not sure why Warner stopped giving a crap about this series. Maybe it was after they "absorbed" New Line proper. That DVD set was impressive, even by today's standards as far as bonus content and effort.

And then for the blu-ray set it's just a barebones thing in a slip case that can be had for 20 (or less). Even said slipcase feels lazy. No real effort to make the artwork special or anything.

I'd definitely fork over some decent cash for a SF set.

Naked Vengeance is an AWESOME piece of schlocky shit.

The Munchies flicks are great to watch when you're stoned, especially the cheesy nineties sequels. The double feature better sell like gangbusters if we're ever going to get Munchie Strike Back. Maybe packaged with Stepmonster? Another fun Corman "family" flick.

Is Summer Camp Nightmare (1987) with Corman? If so, it’s one of my most wanted from the library.

Munchies! YES!!! Plus another double dip that looks fantastic!

Although its just a little too soon. I was still grieving over the fact that we weren't suppose to get any more obscure titles in the future. You could have at least given me a month SF before getting me excited again!

Speaking of "Family" flicks, and SF double features....

I recently watched TERROR VISION on Prime.

Wow! Ignoring how awful I thought it was.... WTF is the story behind this movie?

I couldn't tell if it was a sleazy, dirty movie that just so happened to be kid friendly.... or a kids movie that happened to be incredibly filthy for one.

It all revolves around the kid. MOST of the dialogue is very goofy, basic, and kid friendly. The monster is sorta gross, but mostly just goofy looking. As is the plot.

But then the sub-plot with his parents bringing couples home to wife swap with, and the dad throwing on an orgy video when they come home with some new friends etc.

It's really a terrible movie, but also a fun watch just for how bat shit insane and confused the tone is. Plus, Garret Graham hamming it up as the dad.

Needs to also include the Never Sleep Again documentary as well, it’s excellent for any NOES fan.

Unfortunately for Dinosaur Island, the entire film was edited on video and Fred Olen Ray himself stated a Blu-ray release of that one is very unlikely.

I am ridiculously excited for MUCHIES. I LOVE that movie.

Directed by Bettina Hirsch, who was the editor on "Gremlins".

I had a feeling that would be the case, considering the quality of the film. Perhaps they could pack Raptor with some other Corman monster movie that needs a release. Or they could track down the rights to The Eden Formula which also used footage from the Carnosaur films (tho I doubt that movie would have the proper material either).

Sorry for the delay in responding, I was out of town over the weekend.

I honestly don't like the artwork on ANY of the Carpenter steels so far, though I have dutifully purchased them. They all have that weird, canted angle thing going on, and I find the coloring off-putting as well. I will confess that Halloween II is the best looking of the bunch so far, and the first that I didn't really dislike when compared to their slipcovered brothers.

As for the non-Carpenter steels, yeah, just don't really dig them. The generic font, the weird swirly colors...I just don't dig 'em. But I keep buying them, because apparently I'm an idiot.

Over in the Kino thread, Kino Lorber Insider characterized Warner’s deal with Shout Factory as “a small one,” so it probably encompasses far fewer titles than what people are thinking. Especially huge mainstream franchises like the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
