Are they still going to bring in Premium upgrades? I canceled, but if everything works out I'll rejoin after the 9 months. But I want to know that by the time I join, the bring a friend and premium seating will be all set up.

Not taking inflation into account, they didn't.

We cancelled our moviepasses this past weekend. Our renewal dates were last night and tonight. There's alot of times movies don't last here for 2-3 weeks. And with the surge pricing being close to the cost of the ticket here. So not worth the trouble. The nearest AMC is over an hour away, so can't do that either.

In the era of the internet, waiting 2 weeks to see a movie can be a disaster.

The way I see it, the movies with the most demand like Infinity War, will have people pay out of pocket to see it anyways. If MoviePass has to support paying for another Infinity Waresque blockbuster they're definitely assuredly going to go out of business faster.

This, if I can still a Deadpool or Jurassic World blockbuster but it's 2 weeks after release, I think I can do that.

Then again, I seem to have way more patience than a lot of people here.
Thing is lately I only see maybe 3 movies a month(sometimes more when/If I have time). And usually 2 of those are the "blockbusters". So If i end up having to wait two weeks or pay out of pocket I'm not really getting what i can out of MP.

Some movies like IW I will pay out of pocket if I want to see it in IMAX or XD. But it's nice to have MP incase I'm not able to do that. I have other bills to pay, especially when its hot as hell here in Texas and my electric bill hates me. Tomorrow I gotta take my dog to the Vet so I dont have money to just toss around sadly.

And then having to worry about spoilers for 2 weeks is a pain and annoying.

There has been no word of this. So nobody knows. Maybe in time if MP survives the next couple weeks.

Well considering this has been a "coming feature" since like 2014, No would be the safe bet lol

Forgot my billing date was the 28th so I'm on the hook for a while, might as well go down with the ship. I was lucky enough to use it on Mamma Mia today so I'm good for a month.

But since movies only play in IMAX for maybe 2 weeks, it would be ineligible lol

Exactly, the logical time to have done this was before Avengers and the summer movie season.

It probably wouldn't have worked then (it was rare they would even get 10% of a film's box office, so not high enough to start making demands) but they would've have more leverage when stock and subscriber base was much stronger, plus there were the bigger films coming out that some studios and theater chains may haves wanted covered by Movie Pass. Plus at that point the financial situation wasn't so desperate that they are at risk of running out of money literally any day now no matter what they try, and everyone knows they can just ignore MP for a bit longer and the service will go away.

Anyone read the email from Lowe yet?

[Show spoiler]Dear MoviePass Members,

First and foremost, I want to personally apologize to each of you for the inconsistencies and unreliability of our service over the past few days. Additionally, I regret our lack of proactive communication with you during this time; we are working hard to improve the communications to our community moving forward.

Over the last several days, we’ve begun making changes to our service that will help us continue to offer our members a high-value, low-cost, in-theater movie experience.

We believe that the company we have built — the fastest growing subscription company in history with more than 3 million members — has revolutionized the movie industry in the U.S. The first half of 2018 saw the total box office grow by almost 10 percent compared to last year, and we know MoviePass is responsible for a significant portion of that unprecedented growth.

In order to continue growing our service and maintaining a high level of financial discipline, we need to make some modifications:

We must reduce availability for big new-release titles, such as Mission: Impossible - Fallout and other popular new releases, at least for a while as we adjust the business model. We are working on making this more clear in the app so you know which titles are available.

Showtimes that are offered through our service will vary from day to day, and every showtime may not be available. We encourage you to check the MoviePass app for showtimes before you leave for the theater.

While our customer service team has made great strides of late, we still have a long way to go to provide the most responsive customer service experience for you. In the meantime, access to immediate support may become limited. However, we are working to prioritize the requests of members who are at the theater and introduce more self-help tools, as well as focus our resources on fixing glitches and bugs in the app.
Finally, we want to be as transparent as we can with these changes and any future changes. We are committed to giving you the best experience. We count on your support and loyalty while we implement these necessary steps for the company you’ve grown to love.

Thank you for your understanding and patience, and we’ll be in touch with more updates as we have them.

Mitch Lowe, CEO of MoviePass

Now, I dont know about anyone else but when I click the "Help" icon on the app it immediately force closes itself, so LOL at customer service (I paid out of pocket during an outage and was thinking now they might reimburse me, but hah)

They've already been blocking Leave No Trace (glad I saw that with A List) and McQueen in the app. And yeah, apparently it's becoming a common issue that the app crashes when one presses the help button.

From what I can tell, looks a lot like Sunday. The AMC just lists Blindspotting, Hotel Transylvania, and The Incredibles, and the City Cinemas just lists Eighth Grade with Mission Impossible grayed out as a "premium screening"- many movies are missing from the feed altogether.

Checked in and saw Sorry to Bother you without a hitch.

As for the update. $15 and blockbuster two week grey zone is still a steal for me. Re-upping.

That's a very interesting and negative interpretation of that statement. A little blinded by the extreme hatred you have for the service, no doubt. You've been very vocal in your dislike for MoviePass. We get it.

Uh I've made it clear before that I wanted this to work out, I was in this thread when it all started out at the $9.95 price while we were all waiting for the cards and defending it.

From the way all your comments have been I could come out and say hey we all get it you don't watch big hit movies, it doesn't affect you, you are very much in love with this company. But doesn't mean it doesn't affect anyone else.

But from me saying "So even the indie movies might be affected" its me hating moviepass? I'm disappointed in how moviepass has been handling things and the way they are taking drastic changes to certain things.

But I've never come out saying oh i hate you moviepass, I hope you fail.
