Guess I’ll stick to my original plan of importing the Italian/French steelbooks and customizing them.

This is getting frustrating, why can’t the studios just release Steelbooks with the theatrical poster art? Is that too much to ask, I will buy these because am addicted to Steelbooks, but this bs art is just horrid.

I assume its because they don't want to pay the original artist twice and doing some crappy in-house job ends up saving them money.

They should've used the new UHD slipcover art, then on the back used the original falling matrix code teaser poster for each movie. Bonus points if the small box of code on the back of the first was debossed.

Oh well. Maybe one of the many specialty Steelbook vendors in Asia will make a better Steelbook trilogy design.

I rarely complain about the steelbook artwork, but wow, this is pretty bad. As a huge Matrix fan, I'm disappointed and can't justify myself buying these.

I think your answer is right there in your question: "I don't like these...and I'll buy them anyway." If you were the studio, would you bother coming up with something really good?

But I agree that there seems to be something actively prohibiting the studio from making a really good Matrix steelbook. My favorite is still that old Best Buy one with the "battery" picture on the front. Still available for about 7 or 8 dollars, too.

Honestly the first one is the weakest of the three, so I feel less bummed about buying the first one already. Maybe I'll just buy 2 & 3 and hope the Animatrix gets another standalone release.
