I been holding off on this one for a while but i decided to grab the third movie in 3D now and not hold off on this movie any longer.
Hi Biss,

I thought it was the best of the three entries and those two are tough to beat!

That version of Scar looks like the heavily censored one. The 3D is great but you'll notice huge chunks of film missing, like the disc is skipping or something. The Austrian version is the only uncut one in real 3D:

Surely the line "huge chunks of the film missing" might be a hint...

I’ll look into it. I checked the ebay and amazon link and didn’t see it available as of now. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks 13thman and levcore (you smartass).

The uncut version of Scar is not so easy to get but, given how much is cut in the FSK18 version, it's worth it - good luck!

We have a thread for the film here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=286867

I aim to please

I actually own the anaglyph 3D DVD of this movie but I never got round to watching the whole movie in 3D because it's anaglyph. I did watch the movie in 2D though and didn't much of it.

Bummer it seems hard to find uncut. I've never heard of it until now.

I use to see this movie at my Best Buy all the time as well, in the 3d section. I never bothered either because of it being in anaglyph. I saw it last night and found it pretty long even at 76 minutes, but the 3d is very strong. Maybe the missing bits will make it better?

These kinds of films are utterly disposable in 2D but in 3D they're like a theme park ride. This isn't the best ride, and feels a touch bland in both casting and design, but I'll happily watch it again because I can't get enough of big budget CGI in 3D. Giant robots fighting each other, and a few monsters? Keep giving it to me in 3D and I'll keep buying it.

No slipcase from Amazon UK, for those who care about such things...
I watched that last night too.

I really enjoyed it and would put it on par with the 1st film.

The 3D was great too, the original was only slightly better, as it's full screen, but still fantastic.

I just preordered Solo 3D, Incredibles 2 3D, and Antman and Wasp 3D from Amazon UK.

As I was browsing for these titles, every new movie in 3D blu-ray is selling better than the 4K version of the same movie. That goes to show you that there is great demand for 3D still even though I'm sure that people importing from the states is contributing to this. I just hope the studios and Amazon take note of this and at least continue to provide 3D releases in UK. I think this goes to show you that 3D is not dead yet! Long live 3D!

Watched Prime Focus' conversion of Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor. I enjoyed the movie, especially the musical score and production design, although it was strange watching Chinese people predominately speaking English. The video has good resolution and the best OAR framing available, but also exhibits L'Immagine Ritrovata's signature yellow tainting. The 3D was very flat and poorly converted. If I re-watch the film, it will be in 2D.

Movie - 3.5/5
3D - 1/5

Default Valerian 3D Hong Kong

After all the hype regarding the first-class 3D conversion of VALERIAN released on a Region A Hong Kong disc, I ordered it from Yes-Asia. After 3 weeks it arrived and I checked it out on my Samsung 4k-3d player which upscales BOTH left and right to 2160. WOW!!!
I purchased the 4K disc only from a friendly Blu-ray.com trader, thought the picture quality was great but thought the film itself was a mess.
WOAH! Guess what! The 3-D simply MAKES the film! I watched the entire movie last night in 3D and enjoyed it immensely. Fun nonsense with utterly spectacular 3D setups, depth, etc. The second viewing made me a Besson fan.
So, for this viewer, "3D" made an "ok" flat film into a spectacular one! And, yes, it was worth the extra bucks and time to get the release.

I tried to attach the picture to show on this post but I guess I didn't do it right. If you click you can see the cover...if you really want to.

Amazon UK showed Avengers for 16.66 so I picked it up today. Came out to under $27 shipped for the preorder.

I agree about the Hong Kong release:
Valerian 3D front HK -
Valerian 3D back HK -

Ebay has a 15% off everything code running today. Picked up dial m for murder and the last airbender (both with lenticular slips) for $27 combined.

Not heard great things about the last airbender but I do like fantasy films, so willing to give it a shot.

Hi Arob,

Thanks for the alert. Preorded Ant Man and the wasp from Rahul and saved six dollars. Just didn't realize it could only be used once for then thought of buying Black and White Dawn of Justice despite the poor reviews but second order wasn't accepted. Maybe for the best.

HAPPY DAYS.

Just got my region A with English subtitles Young Detective Dee and the Rise of the Sea Dragon and this one played perfectly. Would not deny I was worried about a repeat of the disc freezing up like my first purchase.

This is a great film, as expected by Tsoi Hark. The 3D was outstanding and the color and detail just marvelous. So happy to have found it again and have no idea why this version is out of print. It would be an absolute let down seeing this flat.

This is one to keep an eye out for if another rare copy comes on the secondary market.
