I’m really glad I put in that order for 30 films during the 20% off SDCC sale, which is when they screwed up and even applied the discount to pre-orders. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be paying these prices for any of their releases right now. The prices on Amazon are ridiculous. They’re sitting exactly at MSRP.

I had no idea the intent was not to include preorders... I honestly thought it was the promote the comic-con announced titles, when I read about it on slick deals initially... I bought a lot of title as well because Shout Factory is slowly being another Criterion where I can only afford the titles when their is a sale.

Mortal Kombat could use a new transfer and some commentary from the likes of Christopher Lambert.

This movie to this day is the best Video game to movie adaptation i think

I’m still waiting on this movie. It’s my most requested title, and it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. MGM did release it on DVD in 2008, but I don’t think they have the rights anymore. Echo Bridge is putting it out on DVD now, but when I asked Synapse about it, they said they wanted to get it, but it has a different licensor than the first film.

Part III is even more dire since it hasn’t gotten an uncut DVD release (Artisan’s ancient 2002 double feature with IV only has a TV edited copy), and it’s the only film in the series not streaming on Prime.

The web page said that it didn’t include preorders. They obviously knew about their mistake because they read this thread and others. I’m guessing that sales were good so they just didn’t correct it.

Lackluster sales of the original probably discouraged Synapse from going after it.

Rumors are Disney could be axing Genre films and closing 20th Century fox

https://bloody-disgusting.com/the-fu...d-genre-films/

Whose up for Scream getting the rights to the likes of Alien?

Im kinda over the Alien franchise at this point but a little concerned we wont see more Predator movies. Of course if the new one doesnt do well its a mute point anyway.

Seems like they were still interested.

I think sales of Prom Night may have disappointed them because Wal-Mart picked up the DVD edition in Canada (it's a Canadian film), and didn't sell much there, so they got a lot of extra stock for it.

Hello Mary Lou isn't really a sequel anyway. It wasn't filmed as one, and wasn't given its title until the last minute, purely as a marketing gimic. As much as I enjoy the original Prom Night, this movie is just far better in every way. It's more of a self-aware satire of the 70s/80s horror genre (both slashers and religious supernatural films), but played surprisingly straight and not really to the point of parody. It's not a masterpiece, but it's one of the most fun horror movies I've ever seen, and it has some excellent performances. I've watched it a couple dozen times easily. Part 3 is a direct sequel to this (it was direct-to-video too), but that is more of a straight-up comedy. It's not nearly as good as Hello Mary Lou, but it's still fun. Both movies don't take themselves too seriously.

With Disney buying up everything, future films will probably end up politically correct SJW oriented.
They already screwed up Star Wars.
I hear Lionsgate is having huge financial troubles, so seems there won`t be many studios left in the future.
There`ll probably be a few event movies like the PG Marvel kiddie fare and Star Wars etc. left and everything else will be Netflix

I would like to see them do The Stepford Wives and its bonkers sequels. The current climate is ripe for revisiting this movie. Always thought it would be cool to link it into the Westworld universe as well.

The Australian DVD is uncut, but it's also fullscreen and pretty washed out, so it's nothing to get too excited about.

I was always fond of Part III and Cynthia Preston, who made some cool Canadian horror flicks back in the 80s.

The day the Hollywood machine collapses is the day that film making can return to it's roots. There are hundreds if not thousands of talented directors, actors, artists, etc that go unnoticed due to bloated studio budgets and egos and the incestuous SAG union's that prohibit new talent from having a chance in the industry. Theaters would certainly suffer in the short term and huge scale spectacle epics would stop but in their absence would come the character driven original ideas that have been lacking in Hollywood since about 2000 and people might actually be excited about the Film industry as a whole instead of whatever the latest force fed "blockbuster" is.

So what’s the deal with Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2? This was a favorite of mine on late night cable in the late 80s/90s. It’s a weird mix of Carrie and Nightmare on Elm Street with a splash of The Exorcist. A perfect 80s “Up All Night” popcorn movie.

I’m watching it on Amazon Prime now and it’s in 4:3 and clearly a VHS transfer.

It’s a highly requested title. Is this one of the difficult projects Scream Factory alluded to at ComicCon? Are the original film elements missing?

MGM’s 2008 DVD looks pretty good, is 16:9, and is probably from a then-new transfer. It’s about as good as the film could possibly look in SD.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2 is not with MGM anymore. It's with the production company Simcom. Simcom is who Synapse got the first one from and they said if it sold well they think about doing the second one, but that was many years ago when they said that, so who know if it will get release on blu any time soon.

I would recommend getting the MGM DVD watch is very nice and it can still be had for a good rice. Amazon have it still new for $16.
