As imperfect as the X700 is right now, the XBox is even worse, especially with handling the chroma information encoded on the disc.

I have been streaming a lot as well and the xbox has been good in that area. Think the Sony is better streaming as well?

Depends on if you want Dolby Vision (and if your tv can do it). XBone X is going to get an update for DV but only for streaming services.. not discs. Plus its always nice to spare some wear and tear on your console with a dedicated disc player.

So is this player really worth it? I just got a X900 4K UHD TV with DV and my current 4K player doesn't support DV.

It's worth it for DV. Hopefully, they'll fix the auto DV setting, so you don't have to manually turn it on and off per disc.

Ok so on my older 4K TV it’s telling me HDCP 2.2 is not supported by your TV therefore the content has been downgraded to HDX (this is via VUDU) what’s going on?

Need to know the make and model. Some early 4k sets only had one or two compliant HDMI ports with the correct copy protection and bandwidth... the earliest 4k models ended up with none as the UHD Blu standards weren't set yet.

After using this for a while now, I think it's a great player for the price. Good video/audio presentation, and decent capability to play several files through USB.
I like that the remote is small, but the buttons are uncomfortable as heck.
The Youtube app doesn't work for me at all (it gives me "Code 48", whatever that means).
The menu for sorting through USB files is clunky as heck, too. I also don't like that it won't continue playing from the last time you stopped the video.
It's certainly not my Oppo, but it works well enough. It's also less than half the price of my Oppo, so I understand it's unfair to directly compare the two.

If you are referring to the RGB etc issues, that was corrected in an update some months back. If it's popped back up, or still presenting in new ways, I haven't heard about it, so any info you have on that would be appreciated.

And the One S and One X will be getting a DV update for discs as well "by Fall".

Depending on what/if any issues still linger with the Xbox and color reproduction/chrome subsampling, I think I might sell my X700 once the DV disc update rolls out for my X. Mostly just to free up shelf space and an HDMI port.

Been following this thread for a bit. Is the forced DV a deal breaker? Any real downsides besides the logo showing up all the time? I see posts about it making non-DV titles "better".

I have left mine on for the entire time I have had it. So far I have had no issues with it.

With 4k discs, I haven't noticed any problems.

Regular blu-ray discs maybe do seem a bit brighter than they should be? Though I've only accidentally left it on for a single BR disc, so I couldn't say just how much impact that has.

I've been wondering the same. I've been eyeing this for some time but I'm still not sure if I should go for it. Are there any other viable options for DV?

Dido.

Same here , been looking at this player. What are the other options that match or beat this machine AT or near the same pricing.

For Sony TV owners only the Oppo 203 as of now as far as I know. The new Panasonic UB820 will support low latency when it gets its DV update supposedly in the fall. Both I’m sure may be better players but nowhere near the same pricing.

For everyone else I think the LG UP970 and Philips 7502 are around the same pricing but not sure how they compare. The LG UBK90 replaced the UP970 and costs a little more however neither LG or the Philips support low latency DV for the Sony sets.

Considering this to replace my One S that is giving me fits. Are there are loaded apps or is there a search so I can pick apps I want? Mostly use Netflix, Vudu, Amazon video, and Spotify.
