As imperfect as the X700 is right now, the XBox is even worse, especially with handling the chroma information encoded on the disc. |

Depends on if you want Dolby Vision (and if your tv can do it). XBone X is going to get an update for DV but only for streaming services.. not discs. Plus its always nice to spare some wear and tear on your console with a dedicated disc player.

Need to know the make and model. Some early 4k sets only had one or two compliant HDMI ports with the correct copy protection and bandwidth... the earliest 4k models ended up with none as the UHD Blu standards weren't set yet. |

After using this for a while now, I think it's a great player for the price. Good video/audio presentation, and decent capability to play several files through USB.
I like that the remote is small, but the buttons are uncomfortable as heck. The Youtube app doesn't work for me at all (it gives me "Code 48", whatever that means). The menu for sorting through USB files is clunky as heck, too. I also don't like that it won't continue playing from the last time you stopped the video. It's certainly not my Oppo, but it works well enough. It's also less than half the price of my Oppo, so I understand it's unfair to directly compare the two. |

And the One S and One X will be getting a DV update for discs as well "by Fall". Depending on what/if any issues still linger with the Xbox and color reproduction/chrome subsampling, I think I might sell my X700 once the DV disc update rolls out for my X. Mostly just to free up shelf space and an HDMI port. |

Been following this thread for a bit. Is the forced DV a deal breaker? Any real downsides besides the logo showing up all the time? I see posts about it making non-DV titles "better".

Regular blu-ray discs maybe do seem a bit brighter than they should be? Though I've only accidentally left it on for a single BR disc, so I couldn't say just how much impact that has. |

Dido. Same here , been looking at this player. What are the other options that match or beat this machine AT or near the same pricing. |

For everyone else I think the LG UP970 and Philips 7502 are around the same pricing but not sure how they compare. The LG UBK90 replaced the UP970 and costs a little more however neither LG or the Philips support low latency DV for the Sony sets. |
