If we got Notorious, Chinatown and The Magnificent Ambersons in the same month as the Bergman boxset, everyone should just call it a day after that and shut up shop.

Yeah, it would be insane to have a month with Hitchcock, Ozu, Bergman, Polanski, Welles, and Kiarostami, haha

Well, let's make it a Polanski double-bill and throw in The Fearless Vampire Killers.

You're dreaming on the Chinatown wish. Ain't never gonna happen.

Because of Polanski? I only listed it because there is a new 4K restoration of it being toured, and odds are, if that gets released it'll either be from Criterion or perhaps from Paramount themselves.

The Film Forum in NYC is screening a new 4K restoration this weekend. I think it's very possible that it could get a Criterion release.

My updated wishlist, hoping that one of these would be possible.
  • Altered States
  • Brick
  • Bringing Out the Dead
  • A Clockwork Orange (fat chance)
  • Come Drink with Me
  • Dancer in the Dark
  • Eisenstein Sound Years upgrade (Ivan the Terrible / Alexander Nevsky)
  • The Elephant Man
  • eXistenZ
  • Fahrenheit 451
  • Funny Games (1998) (KL title?)
  • Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai
  • Irreversible
  • Lost Highway
  • Memories of Murder
  • Ran (4K remastered)
  • Romeo and Juliet (1968)
  • Slaughterhouse-Five
  • The Stepford Wives (1975)
  • Until the End of the World
  • What About Bob?
  • World Cinema Project Volume 3
  • More Kurosawa films (Stray Dog maybe?)
  • The big Godzilla box set
I might consider picking up Notorious when it comes out. Keeping Kids, Gummo, and 2046 on my radar too--they would be a blind-buys if released.

Maybe this will be the month that we finally get Mean Creek on Blu-ray.

(It really deserves to be a part of the collection)

After Hours (Scorsese)
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (Scorsese)
Bringing Out the Dead (Scorsese)
Klute (Pakula)
Year of the Dragon (Cimino)
Cruising (William Friedkin)
The Devils (I know) (Ken Russell)
Dersu Uzala (Kurosawa)
The Mirror (Tarkovsky)

I'd love some more Criterion Pasolini ( Teorema, Oedipus Rex, Accatone)

I'd love some Bertolucci (Before the Revolution, Partner, The Spider's Stratagem, The Sheltering Sky, Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man, Last Tango in Paris)

If I remember correctly the Criterion Collection has the rights to Dersu Uzala and the Mirror.

Great list, I would also welcome upgrades of Pandora's Box, Spirit of the Beehive, or Loves of a Blonde

Of course, like every month, I'm hoping for a standalone release of The Last Picture Show. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN, CRITERION.
Me too. Such a great film!

I want Notorious and Spellbound since I sold those off last year anticipating a Criterion blu update after Rebecca came out. I am ready to watch Notorious again (one of my favorites)

Criterion just teased True Stories (1986) on Twitter.

Also, as much as I want the Bergman set, if the rest of Criterion's new release roster for November and December are looking amazing, I might skip it in favor of individual titles.

Agreed, and now that we know Paramount is willing to play nice again with Criterion (The Virgin Suicides), I think this is a real possibility. I glanced at the 2018 drawing again this morning. That river could be a creek, right?

I was literally just looking at picking that up on laserdisc
