To me, Mickey Rourke's best movie. Its streaming in HD on Amazon, Prime members can see it for free. Looks pretty good for a film from the mid 80s.

Hopefully soon to Blu. Cimino and Rourke at their best. Q.Tarantino has it as one of his all-time faves. The DVD isn't even listed on this site...

Never seems to get shown on TV here, I haven't seen it since the theatrical release so I'd certainly buy it on blu

Possible, the DVD went out of print at one point (don't know if it was the latter Warner Criterion deal after Badlands, Before Trilogy Criterion Blu Ray/DVD plans back in 2009 where Day For Night, Barcelona, The New World, etc. went out of print around Nov 2014. Still I'd welcome this to get the treatment or go to Warner Archive for a Blu Ray release, unless it's already gotten an amazing 2k or 4k scan seeing VUDU has an amazing HDX version IMO.

Will give Criterion and Warner's credit for not too "cashing on on the deaths of recent people who starred/directed films" noticed "The World According To Garp" coming out MONTHS not one month after Robin's passing, so yeah.

Sadly, that French disc is not English friendly as the Chinese language parts only have French subs. A German edition by Koch has been announced recently and while it remains to be seen if it will be B-locked, it seems that one will have English subs. Release is scheduled for April 26th.

Thanks to the above posts; didn’t realize the issue with the French disc and have it in the way. Just ordered the Koch and sure now that I’m doubly in that a fantastic new US version will be announced...

Yes, this seems like a candidate for Criterion, Warner Archive OR Shout Factory.

I've held out, because I think it's inevitable that it'll come out in the US at some point.

Terrific crime action noir from 1985. I bought the MGM DVD in 1998 or whenever it was and have watched it a few times.

I'd buy YEAR OF THE DRAGON on bluray in a heartbeat.

Yes, indeed! I saw it in a theater in 1985, and it was glorious on the big screen. I've had it twice on VHS and had the DVD, as well.

It's one of my most sought after blu rays. I've held out because the French release had no English subs for the extensive Chinese parts, and the other one just came out, but I feel like this is gonna come out pretty soon in the US.

YOTD is an excellent film; really like the NYC Chinatown setting & neo-noir/detective story storyline.

I do agree it's probably Mickey Rourke's best film - or at least one of his top 3 movies.

It would be great to see this on Blu.
