Yeah, the UK release was a series kick in the balls.

With the "Marvel Comic Book Collection" banner across the top, hopefully we'll see some of the other shows. Especially the 90's Spider-Man toon. Especially since there's a pair of crossover episode between Spidey and X-Men in one of the seasons. The 2-Parter was released in Canada recently.

Best news ever. I've been waiting for this series to hit DVD for ages. I have the entire series on DVD that I got from Ebay about a year ago, but a proper transfer is what was lacking for me. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes!!! Finally!! But I hope Disney does it right and release the ENTIRE series on dvd. I am still pissed at Disney because they never finish releasing the entire series of Gargoyles on dvd. I am still waiting for them to release it. Just concern they won't release the WHOLE X-men series on dvd.

Disney has been sitting on this for far too long. And while Disney is great for Blu-ray releases, they unfortunately aren't too great with animated tv show releases so I'm still a bit worried.

Here's a breakdown of the seasons/episodes according to tv.com

Season 1 - 13 episodes
Season 2 - 13 episodes
Season 3 - 20 episodes
Season 4 - 17 episodes
Season 5 - 14 Episodes

77 episodes in total (sorta - it seems 1 episode is kind of a duplicate). Too many for four 2 disc releases. Perfect for five 2 disc releases though. 16 episodes on volume 1 & 2 and 15 episodes on the rest. I'm sure if they were going to release them in seasons than they would have called them that instead of vol 1 & 2

Hopefully we get vol 3 & 4 when Wolverine hits Blu-ray. And knowing Disney, we'll never get vol 5. Seriously, have they finished releasing any of the animated shows they've released on DVD?

*Note - I think 2 episodes in that list are out of order to the numbers of episodes per season could be altered a bit.

Speak of the devil, as soon as I say in a post a couple of weeks ago that this series will never see a U.S. dvd release, it shows up. I do have some fears about Disney releasing it though. They simply have not treated many of their animated television properties properly on dvd. The Tick is still waiting on a third season release and two scattered episodes they left off the first two seasons. If these X-Men volumes do not sell well initially, the remaining volumes will never come out. Disney is ruthless like that with tv properties.

I really should not complain as I have like 72 of the 77 episodes recorded off cable to dvd-rs.

In regard to The Tick, those two episodes were left off for rights issues apperantly.

I agree that Disney is very poor in releasing animation in boxsets. I believe the are releasing it as volumn to see how many sales it generate and if it would be profitable for them to continue releasing the entire series. I guess what I am saying is, Disney care more about money in thier pockets then thier fans. They already have a bad reputation from earlier animation release and for people like myself will be cautious to purchase these if Disney won't release the whole series.

Well that does not mean anything, Batman The Animated Series is actualy release in volumes 1-4, not per season and I believe all of the episodes are there, they might just call it volume 1 instead of season 1. Superman the animated series is labeled the same way volumes 1-3 instead of seasons.

I think you might have misunderstood my post. I wasn't saying that because they were being released in volumes that all the episodes weren't eing released. I was simply saying that Volume 1 would likely not equal Season 1 or Vol 2 = Season 2. If that were the case, they'd simply call them Season 1, 2, etc.

As the seasons contain a varied number of episodes it's likely there will be some spillover from season 2 into Vol 1 and season 3 into vol 2.

I couldn't really care less about volume vs season releases as long as they are released in proper order and all released
