There's a whole lot of reasons why people would have both but the reasoning behind it can be idiotic.

For example :

most people find that not being able to use the universal remote on the PS3 a deal breaker. Why, who knows that reasoning is idiotic the last time I checked you could get a NYKO IR PS3 remote for less than 30 dollars.

Noise - well if you're truly enjoying you BD experience I would assume that you have a complete HT setup and that your PS3 is not louder than you 5.1 or 7.1 setup set to halfway.

Looks - that has been discussed before.

Now my fellow BD member in doing some research I have found some flaws on your BD player of choice
http://hometheater.about.com/od/blur...habds2900s.htm

a few quick ones are no SACD support, no Ethernet connection and for shame no BD live upgrade to 2.0.

The PS3 is not perfect it has many flaws but it has set some standards that all BD players should have.

WIFI how many of you cringed when you read this !!!

Fast load times

Other media support Divx, SACD to name a few.
I just want to let you know and by no means i take anything personal ,The ps3 is a great gaming system that my boys use and sometimes i use myself. So right away it makes all the sense in the world,For me

I found on a lote of PS3 threads a year ago .Ps3 owners would always talk about how fast it loaded and it was true. The fastest blu-ray player. Not anymore.I love watching blu-ray like everyone eles.PQ is important to them.My Yamaha does this better,But like you said you need a whole system to take advantage of that.So my player isnt for everyone.Yeah i know what it does not have. But what its made for(Blu-ray movies Amazing)

I only can talk about The Ps3,Samsung 1400 and The Yamaha just for the simply fact thats all i ever had for players in my system so i always keep it to those 3.By no means am i holding a Yamaha Flag.

Even though i have a Yamaha Print right next to my Blu-ray Print over my system
