Yes, the 3D editions of the Sharknado films are all autoconversions, so please don't take my purchase as any kind of a recommendation. It just somehow feels appropriate to me to watch them that way.

Just watched a fascinating disc - "3D Aquarium".

It is exactly as expected. A steady look at various collections of fish in different acquarium settings. Sometimes a full view, often a close up focusing on a specific section.

It's not boring at all - though one might prefer watching just a few chapters at a time just to take a break.

Fish and objects obviously appear closer than they actually are for as we all know, depth becomes limited when looking at an acquarium through the glass and water. But that does not mean it's a pancake effect. The depth captured the front to back perfectly and some fish do look like they are floating a bit outside the screen. Not like a pop out but reflective of how well the photography was done. The picture is razor sharp so one can really see the details of the various species and the color saturation just beautiful.

The musical backgrounds blend in perfectly. Only problem is that the disc will play a continuous loop unless one turns the option off. So a seventy minute program turned into more than an hour and a half before realizing we were in repeat mode (there are no closing credits and two titles, the first being the opening credits and the second being all the chapters, allowing for the loop).

This might not be for everybody. Some might find it monotonous. But consider if one feels like watching some 3D for maybe just 15 minutes, this couldn't be a better choice than to pop in for a brief respite.

Ghosts of the Abyss: Strong 3D, pop outs, great depth, good documentary in general w/ James Cameron and Bill Paxton

Yogi Bear: Strong 3D, pop outs, objects hitting the screen, the mix of CG animated Yogi and Boo Boo against a live action environment works really well, lots of fun

Ready Player One: Mild 3D in the "real world", stronger medium 3D in the Oasis, could've been stronger, but it's still the best way to watch the film, my favorite film in general so far this year

Black Panther: Medium 3D, IMAX scenes look awesome, one of the better Marvel 3D releases

Theater 3D Watches

Ant-Man & the Wasp in IMAX 3D: very good medium 3D throughout, the way this film plays with size, and constantly has objects and characters moving in warp speed and slow motion looks really cool in 3D

Hotel Translyvania 3: Summer Vacation in RealD 3D: mostly mild 3D, 1 or 2 instances of a medium shot with something hitting the screen

Skyscraper in RealD 3D: mostly mild, with some ok depth

Mission: Impossible - Fallout in RealD 3D: mild to medium 3D, lots of depth

The Meg in RealD 3D: mild to medium 3D, under water shots looked great, one flinch moment with an object flying at the screen

Alpha in IMAX 3D: mostly mild, some really nice depth shots involving cliffs and water, visually stunning with good cinematography, nice little film in general and definitely worth watching in 3D

Hi all! I haven’t posted in a while but I ordered a few wild cards that I found on sale and I’m crossing my fingers!

Received:

Blufans Coco 3D Single Lenti Edition
Duda e os Gnomos 3D
Jerusalem 3D
Our World & Beyond 3D - 10 Disc Collection (only $19.99 with AMAZING 3D)
Avengers: Infinity War 4K SB
Deadpool 2 4K SB

Ordered:
Blufans Black Panther 3D One Click
Star Trek: Beyond 3D Jaylah Lenti SB (FINALLY!)
The Four 2 3D (HK Version)
The Four 3 3D (HK Version)
Kid’s Collection (German - Region: Free):

HD Zeta Justice League 3D Double Lenti Edition
Skyscraper 3D
Incredibles 2 3D SB (Zavvi)
Infinity War 3D (Zavvi)
Ant-Man & the Wasp 3D

Our World & Beyond has some EXTRAORDINARILY strong 3D and it’s one of my best purchases ever (10 discs for $20 = $2 per disc). The discs are only about 45 minutes a piece and some are live action while others are all CG there is something for everyone. My favorites were the two space discs... The person who turned some of the actual Hubble images into eye crossing stereo-vision magic is a true artist. I’ve always wanted to see Earth and the other planets in 3D and finally got my wish. When looking at Jupiter you can actually tell you are looking down through thousands of miles of cloud layers instead of just looking at a ball with colorful bands swirling around the surface. You also get to peer INTO giant nebulas like you are flying through them. I’m a space nerd. I haven’t watched them all but have been impressed with the discs I have watched.

I don’t understand how it’s possible to NOT like the Marvel films. Weaving 10 years of films together despite a multitude of directors should have been impossible... but it was done so effectively I still find new references and foreshadowing that I missed nearly EVERYTIME I watch one of them (some for the 4th or 5th time). I think they tried to push the humor a bit too hard in Thor 3D but it was still a fun ride. I also hear people criticize the 3D in the Marvel films and I it makes me feel like I’m living in an alternate universe. I’ve seen plenty of lackluster 3D presentations in theaters but I won’t even bother to watch a Marvel film if it’s not in 3D. I bought Black Panther and Infinity War in 4K while I was waiting for the 3D versions to come out but I found myself thinking “Man that would have looked great in 3D” and doubt I’ll ever watch the 4K version again.

I really like the DC films too but they’re just SO much darker in tone and don’t have as rich of a overarching mythology. The MAIN reason I prefer the Marvel films is simply the variety it offers. There is something for everyone and each franchise has its own “feel” and environment. I LOVED MOS and WW and liked Justice League but found Suicide Squad was an AWESOME movie trailer but not a good movie.

Everyone is obviously entitled to their opinions I just can’t understand what there isn’t to like about the Marvel films. It’s like hating music or finding puppies repulsive!

People are entitled to their different opinion. Some like Marvel flicks, others they cannot stand most of them. We are all different, from different ages and backgrounds. We don't need others to agree or disagree, we are independent. This is our right, our freedom, our independence.

I haven't watched them all yet but I would say no, very few autoconversions are as bad as The Running Man, it is without a doubt my biggest waste of money on a 3D title so far.

I don't hate the Marvel films. I love them as a comic book fan, but as a movie fan, they are all more or less the same thing and very predictable (but still fun to watch).

Like a Jackie Chan film!

It's true that Disney used to have the best 3D packagings. It's all gone now.
Today the race is in international 3D Blu releases, and here @ home the 4K Steelbooks and DigiPacks.

Many people don't give a rat about slipcovers, they just want to see a good movie.
Many people don't give a rat about 3D, they just want to watch in 2D, 1080p or 4K UHD HDR10, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos or not.

Some people like everything...3D, 4K, 2D, black and white (Mad Max), color (Blade Runner), Charlie Chaplin and Scarlett Johansson.

I revisited Predator 3D last night...meh.

I see some others on sale as well... might go this weekend to get it.

Has anyone seen Dolphins and Whales 3D: Tribes of the Ocean, Tormented, Shock Labyrinth, Sadako, or Dino King? Can anyone comment on quality of 3D on these titles? TIA.

i enjoyed the 3D on dolphins & whales but some of the underwater scenes are underwhelming... it's typical for those type though...

i thought tormented & shock labyrinth & sadako suffered from too many dark scenes that don't play well with 3D (example - the fright night remake with colin farrell is one of the worst for dark scenes)

Hi filmbuff,

$2.99??????

Grab it!

But don't know why "show spoilers" appeared instead of my entire quote. How can one give away anything about a plotless aquarium?

Talkin' 'bout the flicks here, not the 3D. No 3D for The Dark Knight baby.
And Man of Steel in 3D doesn't approach Thor: Ragnarok in 3D.
And Man of Steel doesn't have the vitamins that Thor: Ragnarok does ... film itself wise.

Cheers,
