You're 100% that Dolby vision can be turned off? My EPSON 5040 doesn't have DV capabilities and Im enjoying my experience so far with HDR10 so I don't want to mess things up with this update. One day I hope to own a C8 which will have DV and can utilize it then.

Well, if your display does not handle DV, you won't get it either way. Some source devices force you to eat DV if your display handles it, I do not like that. I paid $500 for it, I should be able to choose! I haven't tested myself, but as far as I have seen so far, if you toggle it off in the menu, you won't get it either way. |

I'm looking at Tomb Raider (2018) in DV right now.
I've copied over all HDR10 settings for DV, so that means contrast set to 86. Would that be alright or better to leave it to default max? What is your general opinion on DV on the Z anyway? Is it worth it or is it mostly just a minor/subtle improvement? And by worth it, I mean is it worth it buying a new AV receiver for since my current one does not do DV? |

Someone posted at AVS, with DV toggled ON, Netflix is always in DV mode, regardless of format. Thats just like the X700, PS4 and Xbox (both game systems force HDR10).

Leaving DV off for sure then. Was getting great HDR 1080 60hz BT2020 12 Bit 4:2:2 fine with Netflix before.

Anyone able to confirm if you have a DV display, and DV toggle is off, it will send HDR10?

Also, HDR optimizer and other settings are not available in DV mode. I did test few scenes and DV does seem to tone map them the way the optimizer does. Also noted an issue with "It" where the skies will display some macroblocking that isn't visible in HDR10. I think the chapter at 48:20 is the best example if anyone else could test.
