I met her ( and took a picture with her ) during SDCCs Twin Peaks autograph session and she is everything you think and more. She ( and her daughter ) were extremely cool also. |

I re-visited all three in June or July in just that fashion. All the movies are enjoyable and zip along pretty nicely. The 3rd is expectedly the weakest of the bunch but still a fun time. This is one of the better trilogy's from Scream Factory's lineup of offerings and are all highly recommended.

![]() They were actually shot back-to-back (and the story is fairly interwoven). The docs Scream Factory commissioned are amazing too. They're split into two parts that flow together quite nicely, almost like one big, definitive documentary on them both (or as definitive as possible, since I sadly doubt anyone will ever convince Pam Springsteen to talk about her stint as Angela). I love both of them, but I gotta say III was the one I rented the most, partly because it was most often available. But I fell in love. Unfortunately, it got butchered by the MPAA, even worse than the first two films. There are whole death sequences cut from the final version of the film (viewable in SD on the blu-ray's workprint version). But if you can look past the unfortunate lack of gore, the comedy is on point and the roughness is very charming. Hope you enjoy them! Can't wait to read your reviews, I assume in the respective thread. ![]() Quote:

It's amazing that Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 were shot back-to-back, yet the third one (IMO) feels completely devoid of the energy and fun that the second had. The third is pretty sluggish at times and the kills aren't nearly as good aside from a couple, even though they are somewhere weakened by the above-mentioned edits. Pamela Springsteen's performance also feels like a bit of a letdown from the second one, where she was just a blast of energy and looked like she was having a ball the whole time. She's still enjoyable to watch, though, and seeing Michael J. Pollard play such a perv is hilarious, but on the heels of Part 2 I thought it was rather disappointing.

But man the first movie.. absolutely incredible in my book for slasher movies. The amateur film maker Robert Hiltzik has this heart man. He stumbled through a lot of the dialogue making it believable. Being a young kind seeing this movie for this first time after obsessing over all the F13s, Halloweens, and Nightmares. Already being exposed to the Prom Nights, my bloody Valentine, ect. With Sleepaway Camp, I found kids my age doing what they do. Being *******s but realistic. Being vulgar but realistic. Just being a kid. The baseball scene which many found boring or a so called snooze fest, which I can some what understand, was to me so real to how I would bullshit with my friends even in the 90s. Which in all made the kills and shocking ending all that more wild! These are normal teens/preteens getting sliced and diced. It feels real despite the cheese some might see. All round amazing work. For the sequels... Love them!! I bought the first sequel, Unhappy Campers off EBay on Vhs in like 00' and I passed it around my middle school class and boy it was a hit. With this one you have to go into it knowing it is a different director, different style, different Angela (it being the boss Bruce Springsteen's sister helps) and then maybe just maybe you can enjoy this awesome cheese fest for the fun it is. It has heart as well just like the original but this time around the blood splatters more and the body count is higher! It is a horror comedy and Pam Springsteen's performance might be what makes this one, Felissa Rose knowss I love her dearly but Pam is the Boss right here! The bit characters were fun to watch too being named after the 80s beloved Brat Pack. I loved T.C., he's like fit Joey Gladstone. Any who. Sleepaway Camp 3, had not watched this one until maybe 2002, when BestBuy released those Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit 1,2,and3, including the lost halfassed unfinshed work print of Sleepaway Camp 4 The Survivor. 3 was fun, I love the Camp setting same one used for part 2, which they were filmed back to back. Fun characters this time being named after West Side Story and Brady Bunch characters. Pam is back in this one too and much more menacing and pissed off. Not as good as 2 but is just as much as fun. Now we just need A Return to Sleepaway Camp on bluray. While the weakest in the series it is Robert Hiltzik and Felissa Roses return to the series, with Jon Tiersten making a few appearances. I have to agree with many of the above posts. The Sleepaway Camp series are some of the best releases Shout has done. They were also some of the ones I most looked forward to after they announced them. I think the first one may have been one of my first SF purchases. I remember blindly watching them on some horror TV channel we used to have and immediately thought they were great. They may not have started the whole camping slasher movie but I would say they definitely took it to a different level. I'd probably argue Friday the 13th was a "better" movie, but Sleepaway Camp takes what they did with F13 and takes it to the extreme.

Bloody Bloody Bible Camp is a great return to form for the "camp slasher." Has some great cameos in it, and it gets the tone right without going too over the top with silliness, which is what a lot of these "throwback" films suffer from. It has a very nice uncut German Blu-ray for those interested.

Never got around to Sleepaway Camp 2 or 3 because I've had doubts that they could match the original but these endorsements have me reconsidering.

Mick's done a lot of King besides Sleepwalkers. Two for television I'd love to see by Shout, or just on blu by anyone, would be Desperation and Bag of Bones. Not everyone loves these titles, but I enjoy them.

Was great to see Madchen Amick will be involved in the new supplements for Sleepwalkers; she was my favorite Twin Peaks lass back in the day (a not inconsiderable achievement when her competition included those dark Irish beauties Lara Flynn Boyle and Sherilyn Fenn
![]() I remember catching Amick in the 1990 TV-movie I'm Dangerous Tonight directed by Tobe Hooper and though it was no great shakes, it was campy fun and Amick's presence certainly made it watchable. It'd make for a neat little contribution to the Scream library if they choose to release it (I believe Universal holds the rights) and genre stalwarts Anthony Perkins and Dee Wallace both lend solid support. |

2 & 3 aren't in the same camp as 1 but I definitely found both entertaining. Very glad to have all 3 in my collection. They're all good, solid, fun slashers. 2 & 3 are nothing more or less than that in my opinion.
