I don't know about the numbers for next week. HD DVD is going to have three strong titles. Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and 300. Okay, we all know that 300 Blu-ray will come out on top, but will it be enough to counter the other two big releases? Keeping hopeful. There were a couple other Blu-ray releases, but I don't see Roving Mars popping into the top 10. Maybe, who knows?

Default Predictions for next week.....!

Guess for next week
WE: BD-64% HDD-36%

High-Def Sellers:
1. 300 BD 100%
2. 300 HD 55-60%
3. Hot Fuzz HD
4. Shooter BD
5. Shaun of the Dead HD
6. Planet Earth BD
7. Casino Royale BD
8. Bourne Identity HD
9. Apocalypto BD
10. Blue Planet BD

I think 300 BD outsells its HD counterpart 3 copies to 2 --- maybe by more

Wow, I don't see Shaun of the Dead making the Top 10 at all. I also don't see Hot Fuzz being higher than Shooter BD. Where's Shooter HD? That has to be higher than Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

I predict a huge week for Blue next week. The numbers for "300" are going to be off the charts. Last week (especially) and this week were the only weeks in which HD DUD could possibly break 40%, but it is NOT going to happen. How may of us care about Out for Justice,Purple Rain, and Weeds? Yes, 300 is going to be #1 (Blue) and #2 DUD, but the blu-ray version will out sell the red 4-1. Anyways how much credit do you guys think that those 100 DUD fan boiz from AVS have left on their credit cards? They are over their limits, and the same is true of their losing format.

I'm thinking we may see 70's again next week. From the reports I've read of most stores and even Amazon selling out, I tend to think 300 BR will even offset Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. It sounded like a lot of the neutral people on AVS were even going with the BR version due to the better audio options.

And the studios help that along with a sale. Like the Disney one on Amazon.

Cool Baby Blu

Both Hot Fuzz and Shaun have been outselling Shooter BD on Amazon by alot. And Shooter BD has been outselling Shooter HD by alot. So I don't think Shooter HD will even crack the top 10

I think Shooter BD might jump over Shaun because of store sales but Hot Fuzz might best it slightly........ it will be close.

On the other hand, I think the 3rd best selling title will be at about 30-35% so the weekly rankings will heavily rely on what 300 BD and HD do.

Then again I might be totally wrong........

LINE UP FOR NEXT WEEK
BluRay

300 (Warner)
IMAX: Blue Planet (Warner)
IMAX: Roving Mars (Disney)
Shooter (Paramount)

HD-DVD
300 (Warner)
Darkman (Universal)
Hot Fuzz (Universal)
IMAX: Blue Planet (Warner)
Sea of Love (Universal)
Shaun of the Dead (Universal)
Shooter (Paramount)

Cool ra1024

ra1024 ...... I don't think 300 BD alone outsells 300 HD, Shaun, and Hot Fuzz.... if it does I will be amazed...... ecstatic but amazed....

I do believe that the combination of BD 300 and Shooter outsell HD 300, Shooter, Hot Fuzz and Shaun

Others stated they bought the Blu-ray version because they didn't want to buy a Dual Disc and run the chance of it not working.

Also, going back to the Amazon sales charts. I am positive that Amazon's charts don't reflect the real world of sales. Just look at some of the titles that are in the Top 10 Nielsen rankings... The Fifth Element was pretty high for a while and did it hit the top 10? No, Premonition and Casino Royale are no where near the top of their charts, so HD DVD looking like it is doing well this week could just be an Amazon illusion. BTW, my 300 Blu-ray hasn't shipped yet from Amzon and I checked another store on my way to work this morning and they had a couple 300 HD DVDs, but no Blu.

If I have learned anything, it is not to go by Amazon's rankings. Premonition was a classic example of this. Amazon's top movies do not always correlate with Neilson numbers.

IMO, Shooter appeals to a larger audience than Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Of course I could be wrong as well...we will see.

The word is that B & M's underestimated the demand of this BD and did not order enough copies, so they have been selling out - a familiar story when it comes to Blu-ray.

Pretty stupid of retailers to not want to sell as much as they can.

I'm always amazed how they have piles of stuff lying around that all their competitors have, but never bother to make sure they have sufficient numbers of the stuff that would give them a competitive advantage.

It's especially stupid for this to be the case with premium product in high demand.

They figured that neutral people would go for the HD due to the extra features, so ordered heavy on that, and didn't take into account the attractiveness of this movie to the gamer crowd

If I had an extra $1000 to waste.. I'd buy another BD player just to make up the numbers cause I use my PS3 as a BD player. But I DON'T! So... they should stop trying to fool the people into thinking BD is dying. Cause they are only fooling themselves.

That was the line up for this week.

Next week's releases are as follows.

August 07, 2007
Are We Done Yet? (Sony)
Arlington Road (Sony)
Disturbia (Paramount)
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (Sony)
TMNT (Warner)

August 07, 2007
Disturbia (Paramount)
TMNT (Warner)

Looks like it could be another 76:24 week or higher.

So, I am not seeing much of a change for the next week either.

Blu-ray has
Are We Done Yet?
Arlington Road
Disturbia
Final Fantaysy:The Spirits Within
TMNT

HD DVD has
Disturbia
TMNT

Do you think TMNT Blu-ray will come out on top, I doubt it would be Disturbia or Are We Done Yet?,. When you combine Final Fantasy, Arlington Road and Are We Done Yet? into the mix, HD DVD can't beat it. Then then the following week brings Vacancy and Wild Hogs. I think Wild Hogs will take it since the box office was pretty good. Thoughts?
