Is this good news or more akin to a Dawn of The Dead situation?

I think that's been the word for years. Scream Factory was asked about it in a Shockwaves podcast episode in 2016, and while the hosts seemed to suggest it was back with the producer, Cliff said that it was in a library that "nobody is claiming." I guess it's possible the situation may have changed for real.

I think it won’t fail, they’ll still get heavy traffic to their site. I’d wager they’ll continue to do well and then people on the fence over this stuff will go back to Scream and willingly pay these or even higher prices (oh you bet this’ll come soon, with competition effectively out of the way).

They’ve got enough sycophants to keep them around. In the eyes of many, including some here, Scream/Shout can do no wrong and can walk on water. It’s sickening but that’s the reality of the situation.

With all the new reissues and upgrades, it’s been made very easy to bail on the label. Between Arrow, VS and Indicator, this hobby is already pretty exceptional.

I canceled my Amazon pre-orders are prices weren't dropping, I expect Scream Factory titles in the $20-24 range, not the $28-30 range or more than Amazon was asking. I really want to get the stuff but not at $30 a piece.

I'd go even further and say these titles belong in the $18-$20 range.

The production company for Fright Night 2 was Vista Organization who owns Dudes that Shout Select put out awhile back. Producers Herb Jaffe & Mort Engelberg. If it actually is with them I am surprised Scream has never announced it.

As long as SF keep putting out movies I want I'll keep buying I just won't be pre ordering them from Amazon anymore. The ones I really wanted I pre ordered directly from SF & the others I can wait for a price point I'm more comfortable with. I own more SF releases then I do from any other label & I don't plan to stop buying from them anytime soon.

This is pretty much where I stand.

I’d actually be fine with their titles being only available at their site, assuming they’re priced better since they don’t have to share the profit with a retailer.

Good point. All they would have to do for me is offer free shipping at their current prices and I would be happy.

I would love to join the torch carrying group but honestly if there is a title I really want Im going to buy it. Life is short and Im not getting any younger. I keep a tight collection so Im not like some of you guys that have like 500 or a thousand titles. I hate dust collectors so basically just buy stuff that Im going to watch multiple times. I can understand if you buy a lot that you want prices lower though.

The prices Tylur is quoting are in Canadian dollars, which at the moment is not worth anywhere near US dollars. Paying $30.17 for Creepshow is the same as paying $23.14 in US at today's exchange rate, and $28.15 for Trick R Treat and House on Haunted Hill is $21.59 US. So those prices aren't too bad for imported Blu-rays. I expected Creepshow to be about $40 Canadian since the US MSRP is $35.

For the last week or two Fry's Electronics has had SF's August preorders listed online. The only "forbidden preorder" left at this point is BRAINSCAN for $24.99. If anyone wants to attempt pricematching with Amazon: https://www.frys.com/product/9624793

As for my own unasked-for 2 cents, I see this preorder ban leading to more overstocked titles that are eventually sold bargain-priced by Hamilton Book. Unless SF changes their liquidation policy too.

I will probably be ordering Scream Factory stuff through DeepDiscount as their free shipping threshold is lower. Unless I buy a bunch in one big go. Won't be pre-ordering tuff wither, I'll just wait and order on release day or after.

Scream is putting out some great stuff and I have tons of their releases, but these tactics are disappointing. I'll find somewhere to get them but I hope they change their stance on this.

Unfortunately, Creepshow jumped up to $39.99 on amazon.ca before I saw the earlier post. Good news is House on Haunted Hill dropped to $26.19, so I pre-ordered that one.
