Seems pretty resonable to me to expect to be allowed in a store at 8:50 if its closing in 10 minutes.

You obviously never worked retail. My Mom works as a manager in a women's clothing store and they get people coming in at the last minute all the time. They usually say "I'm only here for one thing" but wind up taking a half hour or longer. Employees deserve to get to go home on time and not get stuck at work because somebody didn't have enough foresight to visit the store at a reasonable time during the MANY HOURS the store was open earlier in the day.

One little fact that people are overlooking is this....

The store closed at 9:00pm. Not 8:50pm or 8:30pm, but 9.

It a customer came up at 8:50, they should have been allowed to shop.

Simple as that.

But... the store's still open at ten till. It's reasonable to expect to get in the door. I've worked retail (stint at Walmart in college) and I too hated those people who wandered around when the store was closed. But it sounds like you're just bitter. Perhaps a change in scenery is due?

I asked them if they had more in the back, and he said no without even looking. When you go to checkout there wasn't even checkout lanes open you had to go to the customer service line which was always long. If you needed help getting something down off a high rack they pointed to a ladder.

I also would have been done shopping long before the 10 minutes they would have closed would have been up. If I wasn't there for a single simple thing, I wouldn't have been pissed. I just wanted to run in, grab a new keyboard and run out. I didn't think I was owed the world, just that they stayed open until the normal scheduled closing time. I've worked retail before, and I would never EVER turn a customer away until the clock said it was past closing time. I don't care how tired of pissed off I was, a customer is still a customer. I've worked Christmas Day itself, and we were supposed to close at 12:00, we were still letting people in at 12:10-12:15. I guess that's the difference between a good employee and a bad one though. *shrug*
I asked an employee a price of a product... He said I don't know and walked away. Honestly if a lot of the employees have this attitude there, then I for one don't pity you for losing your job.

ive worked retail, and if a store has a sign posted that says it closes at 9, it should close at 9. if a customer comes in at 850, they should be allowed to go in. but on the same token, at 9pm, they should be instructed to checkout or else they won't be able to make their purchases because the store is closing. it is the manager's decision to keep the store open past hours because customers are still in the store, not the customers decision. they shouldn't be blamed for keeping a store open (and believe me, this annoyed the crap out of me too when my store wouldn't close until everyone was out. way it goes tho). simple as that.

I bought Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for $16.99 at Best Buy. The same movie at Circuit City was $34.99 with 20% off comes to $27.99. Over $10 more. There's no good sales still. Who the hell is running this liquidation sale? The CEOs of Enron.

True. Like I've said before if its making them money then good for them. Some of us know it's not that really good of a sale but most don't. It's like the tax free weekend stuff. People think they're saving.

Where the hell did you come up with this goodwill crap. I stopped in and looked. All I am saying is that it's amazing to me that a store that is going out of business is selling a lot of goods at a higher price than a store that is staying business. I could care less about their debts, because they caused that on themselves, and I don't pity them at all.

the point of a liquidation isn't to give you the best deal on the planet. people seem to have this liquidation confused with something else.

Their just delaying the inevitable..... You gotta reduce prices to move inventory quickly. The funny part in all this, is that Best Buy was just as busy as circuit city was, and their not going out of business.

I'm sure they will, but that's when you will see 40 to 50% off signs.

Took a look at an Onkyo 806 today.

$999.99 marked down to $799.99 then 10% going out of business discount brought it down to an incredibly low price of $719.99. There was 6 of them on the shelf. The going out of business discount needs to get to 30% before it gets close to the street price, especially the "no tax, free shipping" price of on-line retailers. So I'll wait a couple of weeks and maybe not even then becuase I've really got my eye on the 906 and Socket Circus doesn't have that one.

The store was really busy with people browsing but I didn't see much merchandise rolling out of the store so maybe those bigger mark-downs will happen pretty soon, but they've got some time. Take note that they take all forms of payment including their gift cards and rewards certificates... except for their Chase Circuit City Visa, go figure?

thats the point. They're going to get as much money as possible before they do the 50% off. Hoping they still have the Theater seats there when it goes to that. Don't think anybody is paying attention to those. It's all TV, Cameras, Puters, and other electronics for most.

There are things that Circuit City has in liquidation that beat the pants off other stores. I can't find many places that have 10% off of iPod players! It is great for items that very rarely sell below MSRP.

what bothers me is that they marked way up the prices of stuff and then took 10% off. at my local store, they marked up DVD's to 21.99 and then took 10% off. it ends up being the same price as before. AND PEOPLE WERE STILL BUYING IT! unbelieveable. friggin sears would have a better price than circuit city would and they aren't liquidating. its amazing to me how many dumb buyers there are out there.

Get a Target Visa, 10% off monthly and that comes with a 90 return policy

The only thing that was really worth looking at were the video games, but even then it was nothing to write home about.
