I don't see anything about 3D on that trailer, just large format, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX. Hopefully it is just like Assassin's Creed where Fox started advertising 3D in their later stage of marketing campaign, but it's also the type of movie where I can see 3D being only done for international market.

I dont have high hopes for this one. I miss the days when action movies had jacked up tough guys .... ah well.

I did have high hopes, but now they are dashed after seeing this teaser - this is a disposable dime-a-dozen flick.
Predator franchise is dead for me now.

I see the lead villain from Logan, Boyd Holbrook, is the lead hero in this one, sitting in the inquisition room. Hopefully he puts up a good fight against the Predator. The 2018 trailer here seems more like a remake though. I can't believe they just called it The Predator. Trying to talk about movies these days is getting more complicated with film series naming everything the same.

For the conversion team, it'll be something to see how they handle the Predator while he's invisible but has traces of his form warping the background as a flaw in the design of the suit. They would probably just handle it as a foreground object if he's in the foreground, but then the stuff seen through it in the background, hmmm. Not easy to convert.

This reminds me a lot of that other Predator movie, where the Predator crash landed in the forest town and slowly wiped out the humans while also fighting the alien Predator if I got that right. I thought that one was interesting.

Predators was entertaining for the most part, where the humans land on the Predator hunting forest planet.

Predator 1 is good, part 2 I have to watch again. Alien vs Predator was interesting.

There is an article online where the director confirms post conversion, doesnt look like it will work well from the clips

I bet a lot of the film will take place in a dimly lit forest, with lots of darkness, so it'll be a challenge to convert to effective 3D.

Predator 3D with Arnold is the best. You can't beat Arnold even with better 3D. No Arnold. No sale. Look how bad Predator 2 was by comparison to the first film. Not even close.

Predator 2 wasnt as good but i still enjoy it. I'd say look at how bad Predators was . That was a stinker.

I think a jungle setting adds a lot to the depth of the 3D.

The same thing worked for Avatar. When you have a jungle, you have objects everywhere and if done properly, you can get a real immersive effect.

Is this still going to be in 3D? I thought I saw a quote where they said due to last minute tinkering they haven't had time to complete a 3D conversion. I would quote it here but I'm on my phone and can't. It's in the main thread in the movies forum.

I saw a TV promo last night (in the States) and 3D was *not* shown at the end. Large-Format, and IMAX were shown. I'm thinking it didn't "make the cut."

I’ve seen plenty of buses and billboards mentioning the 3D.

I vaguely remember reading about how Fox tends to not release R-rated movies in 3D in the US. Wasn't Alien: Covenant also rumored to be in 3D? That didn't end up happening.

The movie looks interesting, I'll give it a chance if it's in 3D. If not, then I'll wait for a bargain price on 2D video years later.

The main hero human guy in THE Predator (I wish they had a better subtitle to make this less confusing when talking about which film) was a main villain in Logan. Billy Boyd or something like that. Nevermind, Boyd Holbrook. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyd_Holbrook

Unfortunately, I was in the theater this past weekend to see Alpha, and the poster at the box office for The Predator only showed 2D Imax and 2D. No word at all about 3D. Not cool.
