In the next month or so the Wife & I are looking to purchase a new TV. I've been browsing and doing research but I'm still a little sketchy on what to get exactly. As of now I'm looking at the Samsung 65" Q6F Series or Sony 65" X900F Series. This is probably the most I'll want to spend but yeah, any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, on a side note. I know Oppo was apparently the King when it comes to 4K players & since they don't make them anymore and the cost for them are crazy now anyone have a recommendation? I heard that the Sony UBP-X800 is pretty legit? Thanks! |

The Sony X700 player with Sony DV is on sale under $200, or Panasonic 820 player which is quite a lot more expensive and just got it's DV update (incl Sony's version), so the track record isn't very established on the Panny spinner yet. Good luck. I know others will chime in and give their opinions, which is all good. ![]() Sad to say the Oppo 203 is out of range for many folks now, I've had one for about 16 months, and mine's a keeper. Plays everything I throw at it, great DVD upscaling (16 fold to 4K), and if I need to stream my Sony TV has apps. |

Go for the Sony X900F since Samsung would rather support HDR10+ which there's almost no HDR10+ content out there. If you're not too scared about the burn-in images, LG OLED TVs are probably the best yet. And yes the UBP-X800 is great if you don't care about Dolby Vision, nowadays I recommend a 4K Blu-ray player with Dolby Vision support.

Also look into the new Vizio Quantum series. Rtings did a recent review and it is highly recommend and $1500 at Sams Club and Costco right now.
For UHD player the new Panasonic UB820 is as good as it gets right now for video processing (I sold my Oppo 203 for one). |

I’d also recommend the Vizio Quantum series or the Sony 900F, depends on if you want better processing with less color volume and less dimming zones (and slightly worse contrast and black levels), or mediocre processing with great color volume and a lot of zones and great contrast/black levels. I’d also second the Panasonic 820. Best player next to the OPPO. If not I’d still recommend a cheaper player with Dolby Vision like the Sony X700. I’d stay away from Samsung... |

It looks like you're in the $1500 - $2000 range. The sony 900f is a good choice or you could go for last years model the 930e. The samsungs don't support dolby vision. Dolby vision isn't a huge deal breaker but if you're buying something new, you might as well get something that supports it. Keep in mind your receiver will need to support it as well. If you want to go real cheap, the TCL mentioned earlier is a great bang for your buck tv (though your odds of getting a panel with issues goes up significantly from what I've read). If you can squeeze out a few hundred more, you can get the LG B7A OLED. I have the 55 inch version and it's been awesome so far. When my old plasma died, it was OLED or bust for me. As far as players, I did a bunch of research on them and the Philips 7502 seemed to be the best one as far as cost and reliability. Not a lot of reports of freezes/issues and supports dolby vision for under $200. So in conclusion, if you just buy everything that I bought you should be happy lol.
