Yeah, it'll work on any TV just as long as it's a Panasonic

Very happy with this player! Highly recommend. Price point isn’t horrible and it definitely tops my old Samsung player. Running it on an LG C7 FYI.

I found that SDR2020 with just a few minor tweaks to offer, by far, the best HDR experience.

If you have a projector DO NOT USE HDR2020! Pick SDR2020.
I picked up the 820 a couple of days ago. I haven't been able to spend a ton of time with it yet, but I am very impressed with what I have seen. King Kong on UHD BD is a title that was giving me problems as it looked WAY too bright with either of my (Chad B) custom Arve curves; it seemed liked a separate custom Arve curve was needed just for this title. However, with the 820 optimizer at SDR/2020, slider set appropriately, it looks 10,000% better.

Dolby Vision for some reason is now ultra-dark. I pumped up the brightness on my tv from 47 for HDR, to 60. I created separate settings on my tv, one for HDR, the other for Dolby Vision. Both look great and blow away my old LG UP970.

The optimizer, which can only be adjusted when viewing HDR, not DV, does not make a discernible difference, IMO, so I left it off.

I fixed the Dolby Vision audio issue by adjusting the audio sync
on the Panasonic player itself, to 120ms. Now the audio is perfectly synced to the video. The only issue is, I will have to readjust when watching HDR content, which has no audio sync issues.

Overall, after a little tweaking, I am very happy with this player and believe it's worth upgrading to if you have the LG UP970 like I did.
I have the LGUP970 and now the new Panasonic 820. The 820 runs circles around the LG unit.

Not sure where to find those on my TV and receiver, but I will give it a try. Thanks

@ack_bak: what are the minor tweaks you wrote about? I myself got the 424 (420 in the states) which is similar to the 824(820).

Anyone knows about what options are out there to buy the UB820 online? Value Electronics and Best Buy are not viable. B&H is but still has the player in pre-order.

I have a LG 65C7P and am not experiencing any audio sync issues between the 820 and my TV when using DV. Everything else looks amazing.

The tweaks were with the HDR Optmizer in terms of black and white tone control. This is going to vary by projector, lamp life, room, etc.

My bulb is under 500 hours and my room is very dark (black ceiling, walls, and grey floor).

Panasonic is not offering the 420/424 in the USA (or all of North America possibly).

Heads up. After the update today my Jack Ryan (DV discs) will not play HDR with DV off. the Status on the 820 says HDR, but it is not triggering my Sony to go into HDR mode. I fixed it by setting the 820 to DV, and then the discs play fine in DV. I watched Hunt for Red October in HDR last night, with DV off...

OK, did more testing.

With DV off and player set to HDR 2020 (auto), none of my Jack Ryan discs will play in HDR10, just DV (with DV turned back on). Red October was HDR10 last night without issue. With DV off Netflix is HDR10, and Black Panther is HDR10, so it's not that Panasonic changed anything necessarily, it is just after this update the player does not seem to play well with the Jack Ryan discs.

Funny part, the Jack Ryan discs are actually in HDR10 as expected in the move main menu. It seems to drop HDR when I start the movie.

Wow took a while to update the firmware. Was flashing, "update 5/5" for a bit and it got me a bit nervous. All finished now!
