I really thought the embossed slipcovers were super nice so I'm happy I went with getting the Legend sets separately, since the box-set loses the slips. But, I miss out on the book, oh well. Still need to pick up the single Phantom disc. Wonder if they'll reissue that one as a single again using this new art, so cover art will match all of the others, but if not, the earlier edition with original poster art will do.

Uh-oh. Haven't been in that thread today and heading over there now. Not looking forward to what I'll read there.

EDIT: Oh my. The Creature set is botched, REVENGE improperly encoded in 3-D. Even if you don't care about 3-D, the 2-D version appears to be half the resolution due to the screw-up, so it looks like an upscaled DVD? Wow.

As others have mentioned, each set's discs are identical to their stand-alone counterparts. So yes, there are duplicates. These are in frosty/clear cases, and drop the slipcovers, but are the same releases otherwise. Phantom's artwork matches the other sets, and the booklet is the same one found in the essentials collection set. All pretty predictable deductions, made long ago, but it's still a nice set; and it's pretty great having all these films together in one place!

I actually thought the art was coming up, due to it being in my hot mailbox all day; but it appears I'm not the only one who has this issue. Kinda a relief, as it's not worth asking Amazon to replace it, if the next one is in the same condition.

It's not the most sturdy box, either. Nothing devastating, but a bit of a let-down, considering the legacy of these films.

The slipcovers on the regular releases are a bit fragile though. They aren't normal slips, but aren't really "slipboxes" either, which would have provided that extra sturdiness. A couple of mine are sort of falling apart (not really "falling apart", but the corners of them peeled a bit at the seems). Most of my slipcovers stay close to mint condition,so it's definitely something with the way these are designed.

Thanks for the info. Haven't followed the thread on this release so I wasn't sure on that.
So basically they are the stand-alone sets minus the slipcovers put together into a larger box.
I'll definitely pick it up but Universal really got lazy on this one, too bad.

Everyone should check your Invisible Man set, disk 1 & 2. There's a claim in the other thread of sticking around chapter 5 on disk 1 and chapter 7 on disk 2, first film.

Please confirm or debunk this claim if you can please.

The cases look like the clear ones that Twilight Time’s been using.

The covers are fine, but I wish they incorporated the theatrical art instead. I prefer a more retro vibe with these films.

I have the UK Essentials set, and that can tie me over through Halloween. I’ll wait for Christmas to get this, and I’ll probably just give away the dupes along with the Essentials set.

Also, I hope the booklet corrects some mistakes from the Essentials edition, like calling The Invisible Man “Frankenstein’s Monster” for his quote.

You have a good point. It is beyond humid right now in my area. The glue might have come undone because of that. I also don’t think it’s worth Amazon return. The box simply is not very sturdy. Wished for higher quality with this amount of money for a box set, but not really surprised.

I don't think I'm noticing what you both are seeing. While I would agree that it's not as sturdy as one of my Arrow box sets, it doesn't seem all that flimsy to me, either. I also got lucky and Amazon shipped mine in a box because they shipped it with 4 other movies that I had ordered, and my copy didn't sit outside in the heat all day.

One thing I did notice was that the Wolfman set was missing the text on the inside artwork of the case, which lists each film, the film's credits, and runtime; and it instead had just a white, blank background. The individual Legacy release included this text, and since I already had the Legacy collection, I just swapped the artwork, so it's no big deal. All of the other Legacy sets in the collection had their text on the reverse side.
