WOW! I can't believe we're finally getting an official release of A MAN ALONE and LISBON! Ray Milland was a great actor as well as an interesting director. I've always like A MAN ALONE quite a bit and NEVER thought I'd see it on DVD, let alone Blu-ray! I've never seen LISBON, but I'll definitely be picking it up as well.

I already own Kino's great Blu-ray of Milland's other directorial effort PANIC IN YEAR ZERO! and I can't wait to add these to the collection. Thanks Kino!

Escaping the town’s relentless lynch mob, Wes finds refuge in the house of the local sheriff (Bond), where he falls for his host’s winsome daughter (Mary Murphy, The Wild One) and gradually wins the lawman’s trust and respect. For Capt. Robert John Evans (Ray Milland, Premature Burial), smuggling black-market goods is nothing out of the ordinary. But he's hired by Aristides Mavros (Claude Rains, Notorious) for a more involved assignment - sneaking an imprisoned American (Percy Marmont, Secret Agent) out of communist-controlled territory. The dangerous job becomes even more challenging when he meets the prisoner's sultry wife, Sylvia (Maureen O'Hara, The Rare Breed). Ray Milland (A Man Alone) directed this thrilling adventure yarn which co-stars Yvonne Furneaux (Repulsion) and Francis Lederer (The Return of Dracula). Beautifully shot in Scope by Jack A. Marta (The Last Command).

The Monster That Challenged the World is fantastic, and I mean that in all sincerity. I could have sworn that I wrote a review of it at some point, but it turns out that I only acknowledged it in a short post in the dedicated thread.

Other than maybe a couple titles in October, I'm hopefully done with buying Blu-rays until Black Friday. I spent a lot more here than I thought I would. Took me forever to place an order because I felt compelled to sample the movies here I haven't seen before committing to purchasing (I'm trying to cut down on blind buys).

Highway Dragnet doesn't seem to get much love, but it's an interesting companion to The Hitch-Hiker. It presents another, very different, hitchhiker story. It's only 70 minutes too, so they would make a good breezy double feature.

I love me some Ray Milland. Someone needs to release a Blu-ray of The River’s Edge (1957) with Milland and Anthony Quinn...besides dodgy Spanish bootleggers.

A movie I'd love to see released is The Thief, a cold war noir that is notable for having no spoken dialog. I caught it on TV years ago and I kept waiting for someone to say something. After a while, I was hooked anyway. Directed by Russell Rouse and starring Ray Milland, it was a really novel way of story-telling, with no exposition other than what you see on the screen.

Oh yes, I'd almost forgotten about THE THIEF. A really cool, unique film! I'd love to see that get an official release. Make it happen, Kino!

True. However, on a purely aesthetic level, I like it a lot. And the tone of the poster vs the tone of the film doesn't bother me.
