Default The Legend of Drunken Master

I just saw this was being re-released. Is there anyway to contact the people putting it together to include the original, Drunken Master 2 in this? The dubbing is horrible, and the movie just has a different feel.

You don't know what your talking about. The dubbed version is great, no need for the original. I rather not have to read subtitles and follow the action on the screen

The chances are slim to none of the original version being seen on home video for a very long time. There is also simply not enough time to produce a proper HD master for Drunken Master 2. Lionsgate has taken over distribution for a portion of the Miramax library and is simply repackaging the same disc produced by Disney.

Facepalm!

Lionsgate is releasing this one. It's most likely the same disc. Nothing new.

The humour is not the same if I have to read subtitles. Its not a complete Jackie Chan experience if it lacks that. No need for a facepalm, dubbing is not as bad as people make it.

Many of the US releases for Jackie Chan's films have no Chinese audio track at all, which generally I'd consider a deal breaker. I prefer the original audio, no matter what. As long as the subtitles are properly synced, I can match the intonation of the spoken audio to the written text and the comedy is not lost on me.

However, in many of Chan's films, Drunken Master specifically, there is a saving grace. Jackie re-dubbed his own speaking parts in English, so at least it is his voice we hear, though dubbed.

And the bottom line is that the movie is set in China, so the spoken langauge should be Chinese, plain and simple (whether Mandarin or Cantonese), otherwise it strips away any sense of place or mood in the movie.

I mean, it is not the same release...the miramax shitty one?!
The Korean edition has Cantonese: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and is released by Warner Bros.
It will also get a Japanese and taiwan release by warner!

All of the Warner releases cut off the final fight and original ending so it is the shortest version. Also, the DVDs didn’t have English subtitles just a different English dub that did not have Jackie Chan’s voice. I doubt any Warner Blu-ray includes English subtitles of any kind.

English SDH subs for the deaf and hard of hearing but your link is to the Blu-ray.com database which is user editable and has default listings.

Since all Warner releases are open region someone will surely take a chance on this one upon release and then we'll know which version it ends up being along with the audio and subtitle options.

I think that I misunderstood your question but yeah, doubt it will have the complete cut of the film. But, any chance to own it with the Cantonese audio and English subs is good news, probably. The Japanese release probably does not have English subs but has some nice extras. But, the Nova release is certainly more affordable. The question is whether or not this is a new master or the old one, and which "cut" ending will it have. I`m going to at least get the Korean version unless someone gets to it quicker than I can.

So, basically from my understanding, the only cut to this is the removal of the retarded Jackie 37 second scene? Otherwise, it's complete? I can live with it if it's going to have the Canto audio with English subs.

No. The Miramax cut removes the end gag, the Warner cut goes a but further and truncates the final fight scene. So the Warner cut is the shortest available.
