Old Savage had a 5.1 mix, probably the same one. If anything is better on the release it would probably be the encoding, I don't remember it being bad on the original release but I have faith that it will be bumped up to a BD-50 and have a reasonably higher bitrate.

I think shout at least has the decency to (most of the time) add things to the deal like an extra disc or extra interviews or new 4k scan, or for Streets of Fire the original 4.1 mix. The original 3 Carpenter steelbooks were a cash grab, but starting with the Fargo one they more often include something to make it better.

What? Not autographed by the Demon?
That would make it collectible.

edit:

Maybe the autograph could be personalized? ... "To fleabay hoarder"...

In defense of Dark Force, they did say they would be doing a standalone release of Chaos from the get-go. That's why I never bought the double feature.

However, I probably should have, because $25 is way too steep. Was hoping for $16.99 or so like Backlot.

Drive in #1 is still a good buy as it still has the best release of "dont look in the basement" on it.

The chaos transfer on it does look dated, though. I am sure the new standalone will drop in price in a month or so.

Oh, the Ronin listing made it sound like its new remaster but they might be referring to remaster on first disc.

Also id say no guarantee of higher bitrate with the extras ported over, and im a bit wary to sell old disc given some recent code red BD qc issues. (Carrier, bone Yard, this is a hijack)

Thanks for the heads up on streets of fire.

I dunno shout is even worse IMO, steelbooks using old discs you mentioned a good example - or how about the "remastering" of Ninja 3 CE that looks worse than the original shout release?

All labels double dip, unless the label only releases titles not marketable enough to actually sell through a 2nd release.

I would gladly by Chaos if I could get David to sign it. Maybe he should do a promotion like TT where they first 150 that order get an autographed copy.

MOST labels don't double dip on a title during their first year in existence. I don't have sources for that comment, but that seems like a true statement to me.

Agreed.
I'm down with an LE or Collectors edition followed up with a more vanilla release (after the LE sells through). Selling me a poorly mastered or cut version immediately followed up with something better is not real cool, though the sting would not be so bad if the first release was initially priced accordingly (a bargain bin like price...)

If I remember correctly, Dark Force was upfront about there being a better version coming out if you wanted to wait some number of months. The transfer on the old Chaos disc was passable, but you could tell it was an old one that needed to be replaced.

Yeah maybe I'll message them on Facebook and see if I can get it signed, I was hoping for a lower price point but I'd buy it at this one if I can get it signed.

I'm wondering why Backlot Murders was at such a low price compared to the other releases, maybe because DeFalco owned the rights himself?

I've searched this thread and cannot find such a statement [user = Dark Force, string = Chaos]. Can you provide more on this?

Thanks. I figured that might be the source since I'm not a facebook user.

I thought there was talk of it over on the Code Red forum too, before everything moved over here.
