As you know, this one has been a challenge for us so far. Please know we are trying our best to make it as solid of a release as we can. Thank you for your patience.
Just saw this. I will legitimately be upset if this gets cancelled. Or “delayed indefinitely.”

But I do wonder if (when!) it does get released if it’ll include this:

It's worth noting Scream's product page for TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE NEXT GENERATION now lists the runtime as "87 / 94 min," indicating both cuts will indeed be included. The cover art also indicates a two-disc set.

Usually, if they’re giving a film a remaster, it’ll be a pretty big film, bigger than the Child’s Play sequels and I just can’t see it happening, especially not when the individual releases are came out so recently.

Also, they’re not crying out for a remaster like some other films. The PQ is fine, nothing special, but not in dire need of a restoration.
Child's Play 2 would outsell the original film hand over fist. It is a superior film in every way and both it and part 3 have a ton of promotional stuff, alternate cuts, retrospectives, etc that would be utilized for the releases. Both parts 2 & 3 are also more deserving of a double dip than most of what Scream Factory released last year... Land of the Dead, Drag me to Hell, The Strangers, Trick R Treat, Dawn of the Dead etc all already had feature rich regular editions. Child's Play 2 & 3 have only ever had bare bones releases. At this point I don't really care who put's them out, so long as they happen. Scream Factory editions would be great in that they'd appear uniform on my shelf... Arrow editions would come with superior packaging, booklets, posters and a lower price. 2 Months ago I was all about Scream Factory releasing these two films... now I'm hoping Arrow does them proper.

Since I pre-ordered Chainsaw 4 directly through Scream, I could very well still receive it by Halloween anyway.

Maybe they did find Kim Henkle's director's cut and are working hard to restore it with his supervision. Maybe that vintage documentary will be included too.

My guess is that with the legal stuff going on they just stopped working on it until they had got everything else in place and now that they are clear to release the film again work has resumed though leaving them a bit behind schedule.

I visited Shout Factory today to squeeze the last juice out of the August Back to School sale, and pre-ordered...

The Glenn Miller Story - $18.97
Munchies / Munchie - $23.99
The Blue Dahlia - $18.97
Naked Vengeance / Vendetta - $23.99
Dracula: Prince Of Darkness - $28.43
Starman - $28.43
The Jerk - $24.93
The Kentucky Fried Movie - $0.00 (Free BOGO sale title)

This was not the best time of my pay month to place a PayPal pre-order, because I prefer to wait until mid-month, but I wanted to get in during the sale. I'm going to have to draw my belt tighter than usual for the next couple of weeks, but that's a good thing.

I always feel strange ordering non-horror comedy titles from Shout Factory. It's sort of like ordering a vegetarian Big Mac from McDonald's.

And you can express that you're okay with the pricing without calling people cheapos or saying they got jilted at junior prom.

Is free shipping on orders over $50 part of the sale or do they always do that?

YUCK.
For $130 (works out to $21 per movie), yeah I think it's a great deal. You get them 2 weeks early. Half come with posters (I don't use these but it is incentive for many). Guaranteed slipcover (again, not exactly a must for me but waiting for amazon to drop to maybe $15-17 six months from now and not getting a slipcase - not ideal for many). And I find Scream's packaging much more reliable than Amazon these days (which continues to become more and more tragic!). For example, Someone's Watching Me is $23 on Amazon. I got it two weeks early for $19.

Not every sale can be their anniversary one (though I wish - I filled in so many gaps with that one!), so I think it was a great offer for those who like to preorder.

Cheapo like me? Their "cheapo" (low 20s) prices where the same up until a few months ago and was perfectly fine with that. Nevermind the sudden lack of availability at most places. Hey if you're so rich you can buy everything at full retail, good for you. That or one of those that are such fanboys they'll bend over at any price, good for you. How about I buy these over priced discs and you can pay me back the difference over $22, which has been the norm I've been paying typically for years now, not counting sales, used finds, etc. Figured you wouldn't mind. You'll bend over at any price, what's a little more money to get me to stop "whining" and for me to shut up?

Getting something early was a draw for me at first but I almost never watch new releases when I get them so it's not an attractive incentive anymore.

Why does everyone always have to use that line in these circumstances? Just because someone can afford to pay retail (or close to retail) for a blu ray does not make them "rich".... that's hyperbole of the highest order...

Some people are collector's and that's their main or only hobby. Paying a higher price for 4 Scream blu rays is a whole lot less than a day out golfing or skiing for example.

I myself wait for a sale piece of at, near, or around twenty bucks for most all blu ray and 4k titles and have achieved that almost every time. I don't wait for Black Friday deals in the summer but I may wait if a movie is released in October....

It's sad that on this site people seem to always be labeled as a "cheapskate" or "rich"..... both come across and are clearly meant to be insulting...
