For the Canadians waiting for Candyman to drop, it's now down to $32 CAD (which is still a bit more than the recent releases, but better than $40-ish it was previously).

Critters also down to just over $60, which I'm alright with.

I bought the new Interpol CD last week, and it was definitely $9.99 well spent. I've been enjoying it pretty much nonstop.

Interpol is my favorite band of the 2000s, their debut album is still my favorite of the new millennium, I've seen them in concert 11 times (starting with a 2002 Atlanta show in a small dive that was half full), and I've even briefly met them at a handful of those shows. They're good people.

Back to Scream subjects...

This weekend, I'll be enjoying the Universal Creature from the Black Lagoon and Invisible Man box sets, and my plan is to move Memoirs of an Invisible Man to the top of my unwatched list after that to enjoy immediately after the classic Invisible Man flicks.

Im ok with 32$ CAD. With free shipping and about 4$ more than the usual price we get, its still the cheapest option for Canadians at this point. If we have to pay 4$ more for Scream Factory to keep in business, so be it.

I like Candyman enough to justify that price and ill skip a Starbucks coffee one morning to make it worth it... but heres to hoping itll drop even more before release.

I thought it was kinda obvious that he was autistic? Conversation with him was always one-sided and repetitive and he had a tendency to spam people's inboxes, asking for their opinions on random films.

Still, he was harmless.

He sent me a 830 word wall of text explaining to me the difference between a reboot and remake when I called the new IT movie a reboot. I found out I was wrong and he was right with the 900 examples he gave me though.

Those are pretty decent prices... I'm so excited for Candyman !!!

Super late on the CD conversation, but just wanted to jump in on it... I still buy CDs once in a while, although it's mostly LPs nowadays. When I'm at home, I love lounging around listening to music on a proper stereo and just taking it all in. When I'm on the go, mp3s are just so much more convenient, it's incredible being able to switch from The Midnight/Negative Approach/Future/Hank Williams with the flick of a finger... no matter who is with me, I have music to suit their taste (and mine of course).

As far as the “spamming other people's inboxes, asking for their opinions on random films” goes, I'd venture to guess that DenOfEarth is the person.

He sent me a private message not long ago in response to a review that I had written for Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water.
His message:
“Would you compare del toro to terry gilliam? And what do you think of Del toro's Spanish films?”

I just sort of chuckled at the randomness of his first question, and then answered him with sincere and respectful, but short, replies to both questions.

Compact discs and social disorders. This is becoming the Code Red thread, and that's ok.

That's funny -- he asked me to compare Gilliam to David Fincher. I actually liked thinking about the random comparison, though I never heard back from my response.

I do not own a vinyl turntable right now, but I've still accrued a few vinyl records of some personal favorite albums, mainly for decorative purposes.

I've got...

David Bowie - Hunky Dory
David Bowie - The Rise and the Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
David Bowie - Station to Station
David Bowie - Low
David Bowie - “Heroes”
David Bowie - Lodger
David Bowie - Scary Monsters
The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds
The Cure - Faith

Plus, I have an original 1980 UK pressing of The Cure's “A Forest” single, since it's my all-time favorite song.

I've got roughly 1,500 compact discs, though, and there's no way I'm going to replace all of those with vinyl in this lifetime.

This all reminds me, of course, that I'm looking forward to the newly remastered Night of the Demons all the more because of the great soundtrack.

I don't have a record player but if VS released a vinyl of the Horror House on Highway 5 soundtrack I would buy it in a heartbeat and listen to it on my dad's player.

The first thing I did after watching the Mondo Macabro Blu-ray of The Fan was go to Amazon and order a CD of the Rheingold soundtrack.

I already liked your taste in movies, I'm pleased to see you have good taste in music also... a few on your list I actually still need to acquire myself. I'm not one of those guys who swears only by vinyl, in my experience CDs sound just as good or even better in some cases... I just really like the huge artwork and the whole process of listening to records. A decent set-up isn't too expensive, I'm sure you would get a kick out of listening to all your records... some really good stuff in there.

You just gave me the urge to listen to Unknown Pleasures !!!

A couple years ago I bought The Beatles - Revolver (mono, remastered) and I could't believe how amazing it sounded. I had probably listened to the album 100 before, but it was like hearing it for the first time... totally blew me away.

@DaveyJoe: funny that you mention Chvrches, I randomly bought ''The Bones of What You Believe'' a couple weeks ago, excellent album, I will be buying their new one soon!!

Great Owl I've been a cheerleader for the Fan for a while now but your reviews are excellent and will help generate awareness of that excellent film better than I could. I loved the music in the movie, how's the soundtrack? I might have to make a purchase myself.

Barsalou, that is a great album. I'm a big fan of electronic music and Chvrches does a great job of honoring the 80s greats while also forming their own coherent style. I'm also a fan of Purity Ring and Paperwhite of you're looking for more talented artists with a similar sound.

I love electronic/synth-pop music, so The Fan soundtrack by Rheingold hits the sweet spot.

The only downer is that the wondrously hypnotic music that we hear looped throughout the movie is just the opening snippet of the song, “F.A.N”, and the disc does not include a prolonged instrumental.

One of the reasons why I bought the Scream Blu-ray of Vicious Lips is because I want the music. 1980s tunes are fun in general.

I like Purity Ring so I'll be sure to check out Paperwhite... thanks for the recommendations. I tend to gravitate towards the more ''simplistic'' stuff although I'm always on the look-out for new artists. I've been on a huge electronic music kick for the past 5 years or so... it's funny how I never cared for it much before and now it's probably my favorite genre: Carpenter Brut, The Midnight, Au Revoir Simone, FM-84, Kavinsky, Perturbator, Lust for Youth, Psychic Mirrors.. just to name a few that are constantly on rotation. You said it best, I love artists who ''do a great job of honoring the 80s greats while also forming their own coherent style''... The Midnight is probably my favorite band that fits that description.

Cheers

While we're on the subject of music, my neighbours have been playing Joy Division, New Order, and The Smiths in the back garden. Bliss and heaven.

My kind of neighbors.

Also, sorry to the Scream thread, feels like the Code Red regulars are taking over today.

I agree on their debut, and my choice for a favorite from the new millennium always boils down to either it or "What's For Dinner?" from The King Kahn And BBQ Show.

I too met them, or rather just Paul Banks, but it didnt end well. It was right around the time they broke and everyone loved Turn On The Bright Lights, but I hadn't got around to listening to it yet, despite everyone insisting that I do out of my love for Joy Division and all things British post-punk. I was at a party in San Francisco and found myself chatting with another guest after he asked about my 101'ers t-shirt, which was Joe Strummer's band before The Clash. We talked about music, NYC vs SF, and took shots and shared, um, other things that help strangers get more acquainted with one another at parties.

Sometime later, he picked up an acoustic guitar that was in the living room and started playing. Usually this kind of behavior is obnoxious in social settings, but this guy could play! When I asked him if he was in a band, his reply was "yeah, we're called Interpol.". Being drunk and more, I replied with "oh, really? I keep hearing about how much i need to listen to you guys. I hear that you sound a lot like Joy Division!". He rolled his eyes, mumbled something under his breath, and didnt speak a single word to me for the remainder of the night, and a few years later I found out that it's a comparison none of the band members are even remotely fond of. Not sure why, though. That debut has Joy Division written all over it.
