I'm not blaming the format! I'm blaming piss poor film transfers, lack of remastering that was needed, and possibly a codec issue.

It can be a crappy HD-DVD same as a crappy BD if you don't cover those bases and those things are what have just happened to work against BD a lot more right now, largely thanks to Sony Studios' output.

Crap on HD-DVD: Full Metal Jacket, for one. Easily as bad as any of the crappy BD discs for the same reasons. Codecs and format in and of themselves don't mean squat.
