From the Sony press conference at IFA - (best captioned insert I can do in 5 min.)
![]() Specifically, who on the bottom right is 'Beyond Human Eyes' ?, or must I expand the added insert? Geoff, Steedeel (will miss you in the football thread), and others should know the answer to this. |

![]() It tickles me that 4,290 people have watched that SMPTE video, but only 26 people Liked it. I'm the 27th. ![]() Only 1 person Disliked it. Not bad considering how dry the material is ![]() Last edited by mrtickleuk; 09-02-2018 at 10:41 AM. |

![]() I know. I always kept seeing his name in Vincents videos because I guess the dude got pissed when Vince said 900E wasn't top model, it was middle, and he's had a thing against him since. He's very anti OLED. And of course against HDR. So I've gone to his page here and there to see what he talks about and really read the comment section. lol |

He sounds like a professional video calibrator, a professional video scientist of the video science foundation in Hollywood. Is he?
Is he the same scientist who used to swear a lot? Did he tune down a little? Is he the same guy who cannot accept different views from other's comments? Should we trust him, ignore him or what? His opinion is his, and he's certainly entitled to it. Does he come across sometimes as someone who is not solidly grounded and who's opinion is irreversible, infallible and not to be argued or discussed? Is he the same guy who loves Sony LED TVs and has issues with LG OLED TVs? Did I say if he was the same guy who used to swear a lot? |

I think he would fit perfectly @ home in advertising and promoting over @ AVS.

![]() As to the non-human looking on at the Sony presentation and since it’s the weekend (footy matches), I was thinking more of Kayla…. ![]() and eagle vision with their extra fovea as compared to humans. |

Heck, that’s more internet forum ‘thank you’s’ than I probably get ![]() ![]() Anyway, as a bonus, after reading the citations I listed in that past post, I’d bet you also now know more about/and the significance of, the Barten model - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btyHximWiqU#t=32m27s to Dolby Labs and PQ, and thus HDR home viewers, than the vast majority of HDR aficionados. Personally, when a tie-in can be made to motion pictures or other concepts readers may be unaware of, I like to diversify the more ‘intellectual’ links with visceral links, for example - Quote:
US Navy: Radio Check. Fishing boat Captain: Loud and clear. US Navy: Would you like a fly by? Fishing boat Captain: Absolutely, (relays lat long) Fishing boat Captain: Buzz us like Tom Cruise did on Top Gun. F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter pilot: Inbound 2 mins. 30 seconds. 10 seconds |

On an imaging aside, some (esp. those longtime readers familiar with previous Lowry attempts at grain/noise reduction with its proprietary motion estimation imaging processing algorithms) might find it interesting that these investigators - http://www.etcentric.org/the-reel-th...-of-35mm-film/
found value in the Lowry Process in that for their content, it apparently increased the detail in the images rather than softening them. |
