I have 2 problems.
1. When i steam a movie from mine pc with mutiple audio traks.
I cant select any. He tells me there is only 1 track.
When i stream to mine tv then there is no problem.

2. When Dolby vision(dv) enabled. Netflix will forced all programms to dv. I think the player must see what hdr is used and automatic select that.
Now if i wanne see a serie in hdr10 i must deselect dv in the menu.

When I configure my 820 to HDR/BT2020:

Netflix: Optimizer functions, HDR with Atmos
Amazon: Optimizer functions, HDR but no Atmos
YouTube: Optimizer does not function, HDR picture is washed out.

When I configure my 820 to SDR/BT2020:

Netflix: Optimizer is disabled, SDR REC709
Amazon: Optimizer is disabled, SDR BT.2020

I am unable to get SDR BT2020 from Netflix.

Robert, did you talk with Panasonic about the problem with MKV Files which contains Atmos or DTS:X or High resolution tracks? The Panasonic is not able to play this tracks but the Oppo on the other hand does play the files without problems

It's not a problem but a deliberate technical limitation imposed by Panasonic. Been that way on their players for years.

Hey guys
It's my 1st post here. I am considering buying a ub820 but before taking the plunge, I have a couple of questions the answer to which is still not 100% clear to me regarding the ability of the 820 to play files from a USB/HDD, and I hope someone here has the answer to these questions. Is the 820 capable of playing the following (audio bitstreamed to an avr of course):
1-MKV files with Atmos (probably not playable as was mentioned in the forums here and as is the case with other brands of players out there).
2-MKV files with Dolby TrueHD
3-MKV files with DTS:X
4-MKV files with DTS HD-MA
5-M2TS files with Atmos
6-M2TS files with Dolby TrueHD
7-M2TS files with DTS:X
8-M2TS files with DTS HD-MA

I also have a question regarding the HDR optimizer. I have an LG E6 OLED and I know that the HDR optimizer on the 820 would benefit me by reducing clipping in bright highlights areas of the picture, but would it also have some benefit in dark scenes in the sense that can it brighten a bit the dark areas of a scene without raising the blacks of the OLED TV. You see the HDR tone mapping of the LG is a little bit too dark: it gives an overall darker effect to the image in general. If I increase TV brightness, black level will be raised and consequently I will lose the OLED inky blacks. So would the optimizer brighten the dark areas WITHOUT raising blacks, and at the same time reduce clipping in bright highlights?
Thanks in advance

The optimizer has no effect on dark areas. The player has some HDR tools such as dynamic range adjustment and tone curve (white/black) you can utilize.

It doesn't matter what container you're using or whether it's from USB or networking, the Panny will not play lossless Dolby/DTS audio (which are usually the bitstream carriers for the immersive Atmos/X extensions, thereby ruling them out too) in a video file. It's just that simple.

Will the Ub820 decode youtube HDR vdeos internally and send them to the tv? Some 2016 LG oleds do not have the appropriate chip to do that (including my LG oled E6) and I was wondering if using the ub820 internal youtube app would solve that issue for me.

New firmware available now. Downloading as we speak. Not sure of what new features yet. Will post more when I know.

Update. It looks like this update includes network service compatibility, whatever that may be?

I'm hoping one of these times we'll get a vudu app

Is the UB9000 still expected to be released next month, not seeing any pre-orders available anywhere yet.

I'm still confused. Does 820 currently have Dolby Vision in Netflix or not. Some speak as if it does and others like it doesn't. Also does the netflix app have Dolby Atmos or not? If it doesn't do either does @Robert Zohn know if or when they will be available?

I'm asking because I can't get Dolby Atmos on my E6 internal netflix app. It does have DV but I'd like to have both. This would be the ultimate 4k player to me if it would allow me to watch also netflix in dv and da.

Robert did you see my post above? Could you get in touch with Panasonic and ask why they do not allow HD Audio with content from USB / NAS? Oppo did it and i think they have to respect the law as well

I have told Panasonic that others companies allow DTS:X and Dolby Atmos audio over a NAS. FYI, Panasonic's UB820 will play all audio formats and video formats from Kaleidescape's movie server. Please appreciate that just because some ignore copywriter laws does not mean everyone can.

I don't like this anymore than you or anyone else and I understand that the vast majority of NAS owners own the content they have on the server, but it's not a approved copy protection method and we can't force Panasonic or any company to allow unprotected content to be played on their devices.

Thanks for the info. Not the answer i like to hear but that's okay for me. Has to use KODI instead (maybe in the near future with MadVR)...

Hello there,

1.26 firmware update still haven't solve the problem with 20th century fox blu-rays when using the 2.0 analog audio output (red screen asking for firmware update), at least with my EU model...

Does anyone could do the test with a US model for me ?

Thanks by advance,

Benjamin
