Amazing news! Excited to have potentially decent versions of Escape From New York and The Fog coming, and to actually finally see a UK release of Prince of Darkness. I'm interested in all four, but I think I'll wait to see some reviews of They Live before I replace my current copy.

The Prince Charles are doing a John Carpenter overnighter on Sat 24th November for anyone interested.

https://princecharlescinema.com/Prin...tsOn?f=8078551

[Show spoiler]ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 : When the LAPD kills several members of the South Central gang Street Thunder, the remaining members avenge themselves by way of a bloody war waged against cops and citizens alike. Caught in the crossfire is Lt. Ethan Bishop (Austin Stoker), who's managing a skeleton crew at the local and soon-to-be-closed police precinct. As the gang members close in, Bishop forms an unlikely alliance with a group of prisoners in order to defend the station and the lives of everyone in it.

HALLOWEEN [1978] : On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith's Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK : In 1997, a major war between the United States and the Soviet Union is concluding, and the entire island of Manhattan has been converted into a giant maximum security prison. When Air Force One is hijacked and crashes into the island, the president (Donald Pleasence) is taken hostage by a group of inmates. Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell), a former Special Forces soldier turned criminal, is recruited to retrieve the president in exchange for his own freedom.

THE FOG : Strange things begin to occurs as a tiny California coastal town prepares to commemorate its centenary. Inanimate objects spring eerily to life; Rev. Malone (Hal Holbrook) stumbles upon a dark secret about the town's founding; radio announcer Stevie (Adrienne Barbeau) witnesses a mystical fire; and hitchhiker Elizabeth (Jamie Lee Curtis) discovers the mutilated corpse of a fisherman. Then a mysterious iridescent fog descends upon the village, and more people start to die.

THE THING : In remote Antarctica, a group of American research scientists are disturbed at their base camp by a helicopter shooting at a sled dog. When they take in the dog, it brutally attacks both human beings and canines in the camp and they discover that the beast can assume the shape of its victims. A resourceful helicopter pilot (Kurt Russell) and the camp doctor (Richard Dysart) lead the camp crew in a desperate, gory battle against the vicious creature before it picks them all off, one by one.

THEY LIVE : Nada (Roddy Piper), a wanderer without meaning in his life, discovers a pair of sunglasses capable of showing the world the way it truly is. As he walks the streets of Los Angeles, Nada notices that both the media and the government are comprised of subliminal messages meant to keep the population subdued, and that most of the social elite are skull-faced aliens bent on world domination. With this shocking discovery, Nada fights to free humanity from the mind-controlling aliens.

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA : Kurt Russell plays hard-boiled truck driver Jack Burton, who gets caught in a bizarre conflict within, and underneath, San Francisco's Chinatown. An ancient Chinese prince and Chinatown crime lord has kidnapped a beautiful green-eyed woman, who is the fiancee to Jack's best friend. Jack must help his friend rescue the girl before the evil Lo Pan uses her to break the ancient curse that keeps him a fleshless and immortal spirit.

Studiocanal will be bringing brand new 4K restorations of four John Carpenter classics to DVD, Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK this Autumn.

Restored from the original camera negatives with colour grading approved by cinematographers Gary B Kibbe and Dean Cundey, the new disc releases kick off with The Fog and They Live on October 29, with Escape from New York and Prince of Darkness following on November 26 (although a Steelbook of the latter will be available from October 29).

Artist Matt Ferguson has created brand-new artwork for each film (pictured above). While full disc details have yet to be revealed, Studocanal claims that each release will feature a selection of brand new and 'best of' bonus goodies from previous releases. It also appears that the label will be releasing The Fog, Escape from New York and They Live in 4-Disc Collector's Editions that also include a copy of the CD soundtrack.

As well as the home entertainment releases, the four restorations will also be taking to the big screen – albeit for very limited releases. The restoration of The Fog will have its premiere at the London Film Festival on October 15, before getting special Halloween screenings at selected cinemas on October 31. They Live and Prince of Darkness will hit the big screen on October 26, while the restored Escape from New York makes its big screen bow on November 22. Ticket booking information will be announced soon.

I have the US dvd of the fog, but I watched it last year and stuck on the laserdisc for fun.
Still better than the BD

And love the art.

It says right there that they're all 4K UHDs, albeit with EFNY, The Fog and They Live as a Deer-Hunter-style 4-disc collector's edition and PoD as a steelbook. Eeeeek!

So does that mean there will also be Bluray releases based on new 4K masters? Or will the Blurays just be Repacks?

The included Blu Ray of the 4K of “The Deer Hunter” was a brand new Blu based on the 4K. So it’s assumed that these four will folllw the same. I can’t imagine SC reusing that ancient EFNY upscale as the included Blu.
