Default the national security blu ray...have i been screwed by an ebay member?

hey, so i think i may have been duped on ebay in purchasing a blu ray. but i am not sure. maybe it is the national security release, so i need some help.

i have over 150 blu rays, and this case is different than any of them. i know a lot of ppl say, oh the case doesn't matter...but, this one has a very square upper left corner (like i believe some cases you can buy separately are).

however, i am not sure i was duped. i purchased the item sealed. and i did receive a sealed item. however, the sticker seal on the top that you peel off had no writing on it (didn't say National security BD etc)...it was just blank white. on top of that, when i ripped it off, most of the blu ray logo came right off. plus the wrapping did not feel 'official' like any other blu i have bought sealed.

however, if this is a fake, it was well done, because the plastic wrap looked real even though it didn't feel it. added on top fo that is that the ebayer has 300+ 100% positive feedback, including several blu rays...but those buyers may not be as attentive as me.

what u guys think? do any of you have the nat'l security blu ray?

There are lots of sellers that re seal movies/games and sell them as new. One reason I no longer buy off ebay

How does the dics look itself?

the disc seems real, and the artwork too, but i was just thrown off by the case. i haven't played it yet.

but i'm pretty sure i ahve never bought a blu ray case that was so square on the left, and also had the blu ray logo come right off when ripping a blank seal-sticker off!

It sounds exactly like the situation I had recently with one purchase off Amazon marketplace. My copy had a somewhat suspicious security seal also that at first glance looked okay but in close inspection looked nothing like a factory sealed studio sticker. This seems to be happening more and more often. Sony only uses a certain type of case don't though? Was the case an "Elite" case that Sony uses or the cheaper, more common Warner style case?

it was closer to the cheaper one without the indented silver blu ray logo.

however, the color is closer to the disney style cases...but again, the left spine is square unlike either style case

aren't there only 2 cases? thats all i have ever seen

One way to check is hold the disc up towards the light you can see the artwork through the side that it plays on. Every Blu-ray movie I've seen you can see it.

My guess is the disc itself is real and a used copy, but stuck in a new case. Many of the rental copies end up like this and some dishonest sellers are selling them as new discs.

I have gotten a many a movie with a top seal and no writing, its a manufacturing error, nothing to worry about

Try and play it in the DVD player, if it plays you got duped, otherwise its nothing of concern

Actually there are a number of Asian originated blu-ray fakes on Ebay.
They are blu-ray rips which are recompressed with AVC but put on a dual layer DVD.

So they look better than DVD, have Blu-ray style logos etc, come in a blu-ray style case. But are not as good as blu-ray. They will not play in a DVD player but will load on a computer DVD drive.

So merely playing these in a DVD player will not reveal if these are fakes (as they wont play) but seeing them as an 8gb disc on a computer DVD drive will.

(I never buy discs off Ebay)
