sixth sense was good but i can't watch it now. once you know the twist then watch for all the hidden stuff its boring. i liked unbreakable but i'm a comic guy so i likes that. the village was horrible and i ruined the ending 30 minutes in when i called what the twist would be. my wife likes lady in the water. i thought it was ok. and the happening was laughably bad.

Shyamalan hasn't gone down hill. His technique and material is always unique and interesting. It is the fact that so many people have come to expect his style that they no longer consider it as exciting and unique.

Personally, I have enjoyed EVERY SINGLE FILM HE HAS MADE. Some are obviously weaker than others ('Unbreakable' and 'The Happening' could have been devised better in my opinion). However, they are still all highly enjoyable for me. Even 'Lady In The Water' is good if you are open minded enough to accept the fairytale approach to the story.

At this point he needs to shake things up a bit and step out of his own genre.

Thumbs down

You have to be on a hill in order to go downhill.
The only thing he's done well are his movie previews.

Hard to go down when they sucked from the beginning.

6th sense was a horribly boring movie that tricked people into liking it with a surprise at the end that made them forget the previous 1 1/2 hour borefest.

Signs was retarded... aliens with technology enough to travel across light years of space to invade a planet where they are allergic to a substance that covers 71% of the planets surface... yeah, that's believable.

Unbreakable was the only movie he had with a sense of promise, but he ruined it.

The Village: a movie with a surprise that forgot to be a surprise...

I think Lady in the Water and Happening speak for themselves.

and to think he began with the sixth sense........wow

i still say give the man a chance. i respect anyone who continually TRIES to bring unique and fresh ideas to a hollywood riddled with sequels, reboots, remakes, etc. props to you mnight: i applaud you for trying, even when you know you might not always succeed

I have to admit, I really like Lady In The Water. Bought the thing at Costco during xmas, when it was released on home video and my cousin and I really wanted to see it.
Played it, hated it.
Then one day out of boredom, I put it on again. Decided I really liked it. I liked the simple story telling of it and Paul Giamatti is so damn good in it. I like the various characters and the odd pacing in the film. Anyway...only film I really like by M. Night S.

I have seen his other stuff, but didn't like them so much. I saw The Others before I ever saw The Sixth Sense, so The Sixth Sense didn't amaze me as both stories were from the ghosts perspective and I had seen The Others first.
