I turned the motion flow on my TV on just because Nolan is against it.

My TV can't turn it off... but it can make it worse, if for some reason I should want such a thing.

Including the option to completely black out the picture.

How this feature could be construed as something the customer would want is beyond me. Seems more like sociopathic climate ideologue bullshit.

I turned that off years before Nolan even mentioned it.

I know what the effect is but I didn’t know it had a term.

All I ever setup on my TVs are color/contrast etc to 50-50. I have no idea if motion smoothing is currently on or not. I don’t think it is. My HD programming looks normal to me.

I would rather have the option and not need or use it, than want an option and have it taken away.

I do not understand why Real 3D is not on any of the 4K HDTVs being sold anymore, considering that it is a program that exists and all they have to do is install a chip. What does it cost? $100? $50? Why can't I at least special order a 4K TV with the 3D option and spend an extra $100 for the option? They slap in a chip and get more money. Instead, they delete tech "just because"?

Personally, I would much rather have Real 3D than 4K. Short of a 100" screen or larger, 4K isn't that much more detail than what I get on my 65" HDTV. Sure, I can tell a difference.. just not so much as to blow me away.

Real 3D is a completely new experience (I never knew the creatures from IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE had a single arm sticking out to grab people with, much less that their eyes were on stalks that extended from their bodies until seeing it in 3D), and there are plenty of movies that would be really interesting to see converted to 3D (JAWS, THE ROAD WARRIOR, 2001).

How can you not know? It’s fairly obvious.

That film is going to pop into your head, next week, month from now, whenever. You didn't like what you saw, but it is going to stick around in your head.

My bff always has this on. It drives me nuts and I can't watch tv when I go to her house.

It's also 4k and she only streams things. Never watches the disc, even if she owns it.

And then she wonders why everything looks so great when she comes to my place and watches movies.

Good luck Nolan. Because every 4K TV on the market as up to 1200MHZ of motion flow. I dont even know what that is. Im on my old FHD 1080p TV at 60HZ and there is no Motion FLow option. There is 24p but i kinda prefer to watch movies at 60Hz with IVTC on. I know it has the so called judder effect but if I am not looking for it i barely notice it. The Soap Opera effect is much worst. 24p should be better but somehow the sound gets oos so i ditched it.

Did any of you actually read the article?

I thought motion smoothing was cool at first, but nowadays I prefer it turned off. I don't like weird judder in my 4K display.

Unless we're watching The Hobbit movies, since Peter Jackson did shoot at a high frame rate.

Nolan is just like any other director, he makes good movies and bad ones. Deal with it.

But he's right about this.

Good article and it makes sense.

BTW, if you watch your films with that garbage setting on then you really have no room to even speak on video presentation...EVER.
