Doctor Strange is the best superhero origin film in recent times. Can't wait for the sequel.

Dr. Strange not observing proper sterile field protocols when performing surgery in his solo film bothers me more than anything else in the MCU. The man wasn't even wearing a surgical mask in the operating room lmao.

I’ll give Strange this: it has the best climax of the franchise so far. Subverting the usual city destruction while giving us a fairly memorable scene.

But you have to get through one of the most by-the-numbers origin stories out there. It really is Iron Man with wizards. I know Strange’s origin from the comics was like this but egads, is he an a-hole. At least they made Stark likable enough before his development for us to want him to be better. Strange, I couldn’t care less about the guy. Not saying they needed to make him like Stark but at least give him some sort of indication that he’s not a complete scumbag at heart, otherwise his arc doesn’t feel organic.

The man’s an idiot. He got into a car accident during the rain because he was looking at his next patient (again, like in the comics but come on!). And he tried to punch some thugs with his broken hands.

Why was Hulk's screen time nonexistent aside from the opening scenes (aside from story reasons)? Budgetary concerns?

Act One set-up for the Act Three payoff in the next film.

Ah, I suspected as much, but wasn't sure. I suppose a fully charged Hulk in IW Part I wouldn't have left any work to do for the rest of the heroes.

I asked that same question awhile back & these were the replies I got, they make sense in context of the film.

I wouldn't be so sure. Thanos took care of him pretty fast in the beginning of the film. He would've been a big help though for sure but I think the outcome would've been the same.

Looking back on the situation, I think there's an element of a mental block or performance anxiety, hehe. I'm certain when he overcomes whatever it is that's preventing him from Hulking out, we'll receive a throwaway line as an explanation. It's cool either way.

Nah, i'd say it's a lot closer to its own thing. Especially with magic elements involved.

I always got a strong Matrix vibe out of Dr. Strange. Probably because of story structures and the way they play around with realities and such.

Tbh, i literally thought of Inception every time they used that similar effect. I love The Matrix but very few things in the movie made me see any comparison tbh. It definitely has influences from different movies though.

The city scenes are definitely Inception-ish, that is true.

In a broad sense, the middle act involving the hero discovering the truth of reality through a mentor character (combined with Eastern philosophies) is a thread both the Matrix and Dr. Strange share. That's probably where the similarities end--the Matrix upped the stakes in the last act by having a main character captured, DS did all sorts of other things.

Mark Ruffalo said Avengers 4 will explore more of Banner's relationship with Hulk and why the Hulk was being insubordinate during Infinity War.

And there's that rumor about
[Show spoiler]Banner becoming Hulk permanently as he'll transform into Professor Hulk.

They picked up on the error afterwards though so props for that.

Haha how can a movie about wizards and alternate dimensions based on a comic book which originated in the 60s be not realistic according to my needs!!
