Hope things get better, Moviefan. I've felt that way numerous times.

Anyone ever get half a cold? Or a third of a cold? Is this even possible? I've been sneezing and have had the runs but other than that I feel fine. Oh, and body aches and stuff but those are probably associated with weight and/or lack of exercise. This is so weird.

Sounds kinda like running trots but I doubt that's what it is, might want to see a medical practitioner if it persists.

^^Nope. It never gets better movieguybri. We found out my wife was pregnant on Mother’s Day and lost it around Father's Day 5 years ago. So I get a little bit somber around that time, but there isn’t a day that I don’t think of them and the positive feedback they’d have brought into our lives. Chin up, we got this.

I’m surprised that no one has hired and you haven’t gone sideways when they tell you they’ll call you back sk33tr.

i save the eye rolls and the snarky comments for when i get back to my truck.

it's just...so.....frustrating, though. i've been told i have a good resume, a great resume, have plenty of customer service/management experience, i've been told it was a good or great interview. yet here i am....still here with no job and not even a call-back to tell me one way or the other.

i can't stay on unemployment forever; it has a limit. and every week that i file, i see that number get smaller and smaller.

Thank you for the kind thoughts Moviefan1203. Hopefully things begin to turn around for you.

Makes me wonder what would happen if I went back to the working sector sk33tr given our similar background and your recent experience. I think I’ve ask this before, but have you considered merchandising? I really enjoyed that one before our son was born. There use to be a site called NARMS (National Association of Retail Merchandiser Services?) website, but I can’t get it to pull up on my iPhone. I hit some job bank. So now I expect my email to get flooded now despite skipping it.

never have. hell, i'd have no idea what to do or how to do that job.

which brings me to....nobody wants to train people anymore. they want you to know everything before they hire you. so how the hell do you get training BEFORE you get a job that teaches you how to do that job?!!

This. Big time! Reminds me of Magnum Force when Dirty Harry says, “How the hell is a man supposed to get experience if nobody gives him a chance?” I think companies need drop that ridiculous requirement for most positions and train their new hires. There’s plenty of people out there who are more than capable of learning a particular role but can’t even get experience roles because they either don’t exist or pay crap.

The system is flawed. Resumes aren't even looked at unless there's a degree stamped on it, and there are no degrees without a majority of students going into debt to obtain them.

There are a vast majority of jobs that could literally be taught on-site, and through the employer. Good-paying jobs, career jobs.

Besides, people learn better while doing the work. Instead of jerking around in a college classroom where very little that's applicable is even taught, get people on-site and learning, working.

And while some employers are slowly rethinking the old "no degree, no job" mentality (mainly because they are faced with a shortage of applicants otherwise), the system is still antiquated and broken.

i have 2 associate degrees....had $53,000 in student debt (THANKFULLY paid that off a couple years ago).....but never could secure a job in either of those fields. so i basically wasted that money and 3 years of my life.
