Man, I cannot believe that All the King's Men has not sold out already. At $6.95, it might be the biggest steal to date.

Trying to figure out what I want to place an order for later today.

Has anyone seen Harry and Walter Go to New York? Online chatter is rather minimal or mixed, but that cast has me tempted. Is it worth the $20 in this sale?

The two Poitier and Thompson films are especially steals since they're some of the most "stacked" TT Blus in terms of bonus features and they're great films with great presentations.

Considering that James Caan fired his manager after the film turned out to be a dud says a whole lot.

Just when my wallet was recovering from the various sales last month...I see at least 3 titles in that $14.95 sweet spot that I think I'll grab this go-round: Bobby Deerfield, Edge Of Eternity and Our Man in Havana.

Given the talent in front of and behind the camera, it's a big misfire with much of the humor feeling forced and a little desperate.

It has some nostalgic associations for me, and I like the period depicted and the cast, so I've been wanting to see it again- but not at $20. That's still a big premium for this film.

YMMV of course, but I think there are much better titles in the sale to pick up if you haven't gotten them already.

I haven't seen Deerfield, but MiH is on my self and I'm looking forward to a first viewing of it at some point. It's supposed to be an excellent film.

EoE I bought when it was a MOD DVD and enjoyed it quite a bit. I haven't cracked my Blu of it open yet, but the canyon vistas should be even more awesome in HD!

This is a title I would highly recommend if people don't already own it.

"Our Man in Havana" is great. I recently watched it on Sony's movie channel, I enjoyed it and I'm kind of on an Alec Guiness, pre-Star Wars/David Lean epics binge right now (I recently purchased a Ealing Studios triple feature with him appearing in all three).

It’s worth more than that, definitely gets my recommendation, which is probably worth less.

I just LOVE Model Shop

Jacques Demy's one and only U.S. film.

Just a great snapshot of L.A.

It has an intentional breezy pace. It's great.

really? Where did you hear that? It was critically savaged across the board when it was originally released.....

Yeah. Love the flick. Love just about anything George C. Scott is in, but also not one I consider an "enjoyable" enough watch to pick up at full price. But, for 14 bucks, and if Twilight Time did a great job with it....definitely.

Did you think I was referring to Deerfield? I vaguely remember that film being savaged critically at the time.

I'm not old enough to have been around for the original release of MiH, but that's the film I was referring to and from what I've seen, has had nothing but a positive critical and viewer consensus.

I'm personally not very interested in Deerfield, although I'll take 70's Pacino over 80's-2000's era Pacino any day.
It also has Marthe Keller if I'm not mistaken. I always wanted to see her in more material.

At $9.95 I might be tempted to impulse purchase it.
If I were feeling flush, which I definitely ain't right now.

I pretty much figured it would be in September, it's just that I cannot believe we're into September already!

I posted my thoughts on the title specific thread after watching it. I enjoyed it but I can see how a lot of people wouldn't, given the talent involved. Some of the comedy is hit or miss, and the end drags on a bit too long during the song & dance routine (the main characters are conmen / vaudevillians). The film would probably work better as a 90 minute movie instead of a 120 minute one. But if a lighthearted heist movie set in the 1800s appeals to you, give it a shot. I would say if in doubt, wait for it to show up in one of those 15/$15 promos.

Seconded. Our Man in Havana is an absolutely fantastic movie. I really enjoyed it, I had a grin on my face throughout. So much great talent involved and not just the main names, but Ernie Kovacs is great in it too.

After watching it, it occurred to me that the Tailor of Panama is basically a remake (or "homage" if you're being kind; "rip-off" if you're being unkind).

I'm certain most people here will absolutely cherish Our Man in Havana.
